You knew it was coming at some point before actual voters put paid to it. But a "Jeb Bush comeback" narrative arrived ahead of schedule today with a Michael Brendan Dougherty column at The Week making the case that the former Florida governor is positioned to take a big leap from the political intensive care unit to the GOP presidential nomination.
Dougherty's case boils down to three points: First, Marco Rubio ain't exactly setting the world on fire as the presumed successor to Jeb as the Establishment Republican favorite. Second, Jeb's super-pac has an awful lot of money. And third, John McCain pulled off this sort of comeback in 2008.
Unfortunately for Jeb, all three arguments are shaky at best.

Yeb!, and particularly Yeb!’s amnesty plans, are so unpopular, it’s hard to see how they think they make it look legitimate to nominate him.
It’s possible they don’t care if it looks legitimate as long as they block us from electing anyone who would stop The Cheap Labor Express.
“Comeback” in Spanish is “Vuelve”. I want to see Yeb pronounce that one.

Yeah well, he tried that in one of the debates and only got as high as his the tip of his toes.
Jeb! is not going to step into Marco’s shoes to keep on truckin’ if Marco ‘fails’.
Money doesn’t buy votes ... not with a pissed off electorate.
Last but not least ... “McCain did it” isn’t going to work with a pissed off electorate either. I think the only reason McCain did do it was because of his Sarah Palin VP pick.
Bottom line .... a lot of folks who cast a vote the last couple of elections while holding their noses (McCain, Romney) are NOT going to do that again. Jeb! would be a ‘hold your nose AND bring a barf bag’ vote .... personally, the GOPe got my last “hold your nose” vote with Romney.
Ain’t gonna happen.
For Jeb, he has to pray Trump/Cruz become so unlikable that out of desperation, GOP voters will pick him.
That’s a scenario possible only when the Fat Lady sings.
