Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is defending an ad critical of 2016 GOP rival Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) comments on same-sex marriage.
On "Fox News Sunday," the former Arkansas governor was asked whether the pro-Huckabee ad's editing was selective.
"No, not at all," Huckabee said. "And there's nothing selective, there was nothing deceptive. The point is that in Iowa he's made a major point, and he's pitched to evangelicals as a person who is utterly authentic, he's going to fight for religious liberty, he's going to protect the right of people to disagree with decisions on same-sex marriage. But that's not what you heard in that Manhattan fundraiser and that's the only thing that I have pointed out."
A super PAC called Pursuing America's Greatness recently produced the ad in Iowa, which includes audio of an exchange between Cruz and an unidentified person at a New York fundraiser. The man asks Cruz whether he views his opposition to marriage rights for same-sex couples as a "top-three priority." In the ad, Cruz is heard simply replying, "No."
But the ad drew criticism from The Washington Post, which pointed out that Cruz's comments were longer.
"No, I would say defending the Constitution is a top priority," he said in the audio, obtained by Politico and recorded at a fundraiser in New York. "And that cuts across the whole spectrum -- whether it's defending the First Amendment, defending religious liberty, stopping courts from making public policy issues that are left to the people. And I also think the 10th Amendment to the Constitution cuts across a lot of issues."

Most welcome.
Maybe Huckster can run on a ticket with Lindsey “Goober” Graham.
“Tell Aunt Bea we said ‘Hey!’
Vote Goober/Gomer 2016!”

Leo Bloom: [to Max] What pun?
Max Bialystock: Shut up, he thinks he’s witty.
That’s funny because a similar thing happened to me!
I went to type “Huckabee” and my spellchecker changed it to “insufferable platitude-spewing pseudo-populist douchebag.”
This technology is getting scary good.
Hank
Huck is the worst at kneecapping our best shot at beating the establishment.
The rhyme was quite nice. Nice break from the usual. You must still have Twas the Night Before Christmas stuck in your head. LOL
Well .. that wasn’t the only time.
He was pretty snarky to Ted Cruz when the incident was going on with the License issue by the lady who refused to sign a license for 2 gay people.
Cruz was in the area, and showed up to join in support, and Huck was really, really rude to Cruz; it was actually visible on the film of the event.
Cruz was very polite and just left the area .. I could see that point .. but my disgust for Huckabee went way up. If he wants to know why he’s losing .. he should try looking at the videos.
Cruz correctly stated that such decisions belong to the States, not the Federal gov’t. ...(I paraphrased)
Go tell yer maw! Go tell yer paw! Gonna send ya back to Arkansas!
No. In 2008 He prevented Romney from winning primaries and gave his delegates to McCain. Romney would have probably beaten Obama the first time. Obummer was not popular till he ran against McCain.
I agree with this. Ramley seemed vicious in 2008, but by 2012 he seemed a weird squish. I think he could have won in 2008.
McLame has a lot to answer for. Despite Rimlidge being GOPe, better than zero.
Hilarious!!
She probably thought this article would hurt Cruz. She was wrong.
Huck, you GOPe hack.
Huckabee would be an interesting Press Secretary for Donald Trump. Huckabee’s done the TV host thing rather well and he could guide Trump as to what Evangelicals want.
Huckabee is hawking fake cancer treatments and diabetes cures. He belongs behind bars.
He knows that. He’s still in race just to hurt Cruz. He’s doing it for free donuts.
Some may recall when this POS took off during the 2008 pres campaign to go to the Cayman Islands....said it was for a Christian book signing LOL. The huckster is pure scum, always has been, always will be. But even the truth about him wont cause his followers to waiver. Just exactly like followers of Jim Jones.
You’re welcome.
“Cruz correctly stated that such decisions belong to the States, not the Federal govât. ...(I paraphrased)”
So you’ve got one state recognizing homosexual marriages and another state that does not. They move to the other state. What happens to their children? To the laws governing estates? etc.
This is not a driver’s license. It is not a gun license. What one state does, affects the rights of other States.
This is not a State issue.
Cruz is ducking the issue. He knows the Supreme Court has already nullified any rights that States may have to make laws governing homosexual marriages. Perhaps it’s because Cruz is speaking in front of a homosexual group.
,,,,,, here we go again ,,,,,,,,,, with the circular firing squad ,,,, . . . It’s getting harder to respect Huckleberry .
