What if Trump wins the presidency with Cruz as VP and they make the VP sideline job of President of the Senate a REAL job? For example, what if they make Cruz the real boss of the senate and bump McConnell down a peg or two?
I’m with you. SCOTUS not an option. Attorney General? Wow. The man could make a mark and clean house.
The Senate sets it’s own rules per the Constitution. There is no Constitutional role of the VP in the Senate except being the tie breaking vote.
Honestly, I would hate this because it trashes the separation of powers and sets an awful precedent for those Republic-hating libs to take advantage of.
I don’t think the Senate would confirm Cruz to the Supreme Court.
Carly as VP. Cruz AG.
I’m interested, why not?
The VP already has a defined limited role in the Republic.
Nelson Rockefeller tried that in 1975; I don’t think Robert C. Byrd let him get away with it. Later Byrd had another popular Rockefeller as his colleague.
If he doesn’t get the nomination, I’d leave Cruz right where he is in the Senate to challenge for majority leader.
Make Sessions AG...
I just wish we could get rid of McConJob the RINO (RAT)
Let the conservative Cruz be President. Trump could run for the Senate against Schumer and then he could try to run the Senate.
In the early 1900s Speaker of the House Joe Cannon rewrote the rule book on how the Speaker of the House controlled the committees. There is nothing to say that the president of the senate, to some degree, can’t do the same.
The President of the Senate has no power whatsoever apart from voting in the case of a tie. It was not just Lyndon Johnson but the very first vice president serving in that capacity, John Adams, who were rudely apprised of the vacuity of that office.
To squander the talents of Ted Cruz in this position, or in these positions, would be a crime against conservatism. There is no man currently running better qualified to be President of the United States than Ted Cruz. There is no one with a chance to win who is more conservative than Ted Cruz.
I have grave enough concerns that someone may try to martyr Trump while in office, one reason I want to see Cruz there able to step in if that were to occur.
If you think about it many GREAT choices for so many failing governmental functions...
Guiliani- Homeland Security?
Carson- Surgeon General? Health and Human Services?
Christie- Attorney General (or Guiliani)
Commerce- Trump (should he fail to win), Fiorina
Defense- Webb??? McCain (make me puke but he’d probably be good..and get hime out of the Senate)
just to name a few
The Senate won’t confirm.
Of course the Senate would confirm him ... if only to get rid of him. In the Senate, they’d have to see him every day, but if he was on SCOTUS they’d only have to see him o ce a year. : )
The Senate would be so annoyed if Cruz were it’s President. That would be worth it!
For taking a serious interest in Constitutional Law, an appointment to the SC makes the most sense. It is where Constitutionally you would make the greatest difference in preserving it.
Abolish Homeland Security. Or let Ted Nugent take Reigns
Cruz......Sec of energy to see is sand can really glow...or VP
Palin Sec of Interior
BIG QUESTION: WHO will be the new leader of the Republican Party? Priebus is going to be out. How about Dave Agema? Certainly a Trump fit.
AG Guiliani
Commerce.....Forbes, Cain
Sec Of State......Ommarosa
He’s my candidate, but he’d have to get there without my vote. As long as Trump is anywhere on the ticket, I’m not voting. Count me as part of the 50% that’s embarrassed.
