Donald Trump has a solution to the Miss Universe crown controversy: Share the wealth!
"What I would do is make them a co-winner, that would be very cool," the presidential candidate and former Miss Universe owner told Matt Lauer on the "Today" show Monday.
Pageant host Steve Harvey made an out-of-this-world blunder on Sunday night by mistakenly announcing Miss Colombia the winner -- before stripping her of the sash and tiara on live TV just minutes later to hand over the top prize to Miss Philippines, the true winner.
"What happened to the girl from Colombia is devastating," Trump told Lauer. "To give it to her for a couple of minutes and then take it away ... I would recommend that they go have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner. I think something like that could work."

Something like that SHOULD be a career ender for Steve Harvey, and I’ve always liked the guy. But he needs to stay on ‘Family Feud’.

He’s no Solomon. Read Proverbs. Still, his suggestion is a good one except for one thing: Everyone knows the other lady won. I would just give the runner-up equal value prizes, only excluding the title and touring.
I watch Mr. Trump’s interview on NBC’s TODAY SHOW this morning.

I don’t think it should be a career ender. People make mistakes. Miss Columbia will survive. Up the dollar value of her prizes to equal the winner’s if that makes people feel better. Life hits everyone hard from time to time. In the big picture, this is nothing.
It’s inevitable that someone makes a mistake like Harvey did. Heck a US newspaper said that “Dewey Defeats Truman.” Feel bad for both him and the two girls. The girl will never get another first moment to be “Miss Universe.”

There is and can be only 1 winner. That Harvey screwed up doesn’t mean you go full Obama and “share the trophy”.

Yes, I remember that-—haven’t watched on in years.
It is not a charity prize. Remember playing Monopoly as a kid and getting that card that read, “You won second place in a beauty contest”? Everyone who ever drew that card said, “I wonder who won first?” Get over it. Give her money. The title belongs solely to Miss Philippines. Why lessen her accomplishment by focusing on the other lady? It’s sad. There are zillons of worse things that can happen to a person than coming in second in the Miss Universe Pageant.
After last night’s fiasco I think that, for the good of society and our culture, Donald Trump needs to drop his presidential bid, buy back the Miss Universe Organization, and return to what he knows best. This wouldn’t have happened on his watch.
