After a teacher at a Virginia school handed out a standard homework assignment on Islam, such an angry backlash flooded in that it prompted officials to close every single school in the county as a safety precaution.

Let's cut right to the chase. You all are advocating censorship, pure and simple. Whether you realize it or not, that is what it is. I on the other hand advocate for knowledge to fight ignorance and that is the only way to fight it.
Further I really have to question the faith of someone that is so afraid of knowledge. Does this mother believe that her child's faith is so weak that she will be converted to islam over an artistic interpretation.
As does your complete lack of character. So what is this mystery degree that you have claimed to have shared?
So the hypothetical Pakistani was a good Muslim? And therein lies the rub.
I am sure some of these nominal Muslims you know personally are still “Muslim” only because of the very real threat of violence from their more orthodox co-religionists. See the polling data I posted earlier on this subject, looking for the numbers regarding punishment for apostasy. It isn’t pretty.
The problem is that I can’t tell who is truly a MINO, and who might become a true believer. As I like to say, if it’s such a peaceful and friendly religion, why aren’t the extremists extremely peaceful and friendly. Unfortunately, the extremists act like Mohammed, and no reformation is going to fix that fundamental problem.
Meanwhile, extremist Christians go proselytize and build schools and wells in Africa and Central America. And try to emulate Christ, love their fellow man, etc.
Yes there are moderate Muslims. But there is no moderate Islam, and I have no way of knowing when someone in the belief system might leave MINO / moderate status and act on what the founder encouraged his followers to do.
There’s no way to tell them apart, and there’s no valid reason to be a moslem and want to be a US citizen. They need to completely repudiate the murderous cult and embrace American values.
You should have introduced them to a preacher.
First off it is properly spelled "Shahada". Second; there is no such thing as bad knowledge. Knowledge is in and of itself benign. It is what you do with that knowledge that determines it's beneficence.
Europe is about to be over thrown by the steady encroachment of islam due to their ongoing ignorance of it's belief system. You want to defeat an enemy, then you darn well better understand what makes them tick.
Here is a quote from "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. I strongly recommend that all three of you study it. James Clavell has the easiest translation, Ralph sawyer has the best commentary, but you can find several good translation on line for free.
âIf you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.â
Do you think for a minute that school children in this country could be asked to use the following phrase in their calligraphy assignment?
Baby Jesus, Son of God. or
Christ the Savior is Born.
Let’s indeed cut to the chase. You are lumpingoing me with those who may be making a different argument. I’m not against teaching comparative religion. I’m against using the teaching of comparative religion improperly as a tool for conversion.

Your post is self-contradictory gibberish. Come back when you regain a semblance of coherence.
You merely lack judgment. Pray for the gift of discerment.
Sometimes, your stupidity shows. I guess you’re not reading my posts with any kind of comprehension. Until you show some comprehension, don’t bother me. Try to read ALL my posts in this thread. The WHOLE way through. Then try to THINK about what I’m saying. If you have any functioning brain cells (something that is in doubt), you’ll find it may have a different perspective than others.
No, it is you who lacks judgement.
Islam is incompatible with the US Constitution and American values. It embraces wife-beating, rape, slavery, murder and a complete overthrow of our way of life.
Unless your buddies abandon those principles, they are the enemy. I wouldn't get too cozy with them.
Pray for the gift of discerment.
Pray they don't kill you.
That's because you have scales over your eyes. You're moslem filth yourself aren't you.
You have been “lumped” in with the correct group. This assignment was not being used as a tool for conversion. You had the same knee jerk reaction as the rest. The woman that used it is an Evangelical Christian, same as the woman that complained.
I have read EVERYTHING you posted on this thread and frankly you are showing signs of schizophrenia. One minute you support Muslims, but then don’t support being taught about them. the next you do support being taught about them, but only in college.
This is too funny, Sitetest is a good and faithful Catholic.
Many American moslems embrace different interpretations of islam than the one that you propse. Is their interpretation the “right” one. I think it’s a stupid question asked by stupid people.
Islam is a FALSE religion. Say that to yourself over and over until it penetrates your skull.
When you finally understand that, you’ll be ready to try this: Since it is a FALSE religion, there are no RIGHT interpretations. There are only interpretations that are more or less popular at a given time, in a given place.
The evidence suggests that at this time, in many places, a harsher interpretation is most popular, but in some places (like the US), less so.
The routine practice of islam is different in Afghanistan (with 25 million moslems) than the routine practice of islam in the US (with a few million moslems).
It's not a religion at all. Does it sound like I have a problem with that?
Intrepretations? How many ways can you "intrepret" KILL THE INFIDELS?
Defending sleeper cells. Who do you think brought the Somalians to Maine...other moslems?
It included an authority figure requiring the student to write out the profession of faith not likely the student’s own. That is, whether witting, or unwitting, a conversion tool.
I have a degree in psychology, and this sort of practice was a standard feature in experiments trying to discern how folks came to internalize things.
