Star Wars: The Force Awakens – initial verdicts suggest 'overwhelming experience'
Guardian ^ | December 15, 2015

There were “smiling faces” from the crowds exiting the Los Angeles premiere of The Force Awakens on Monday night. Amongst these, presumably, were Disney executives ecstatic that the $4bn they paid George Lucas for franchise rights looks to have been a sound investment.

Initial reactions from all three screening rooms where the film was shown for the first time – as well as from social media – suggest that JJ Abrams has the chops to please both critics and fans, and that The Force Awakens may well recoup at least half the $4bn by itself.

A journalist for the Hollywood Reporter was one of the first to tweet following the event, at which mobile phones were confiscated.

Liar. You are number 2 to answer. You rushed here to talk about the film quicker then the most fans of the movies. What a fraud you are.

The storylines banted about in the movie, have already been spelled out in Star Wars series novels, in the ‘90’s.

It’s almost (but not quite) as vacuous as baseball.

I won’t pay money to see it solely for the fact that it was directed by J. J. Abrams. I’ll watch it when it’s available on Netflix.

With JJ Abrams denouncing White actors and forcing diversity down our throats, I really have to wonder about left-wing propaganda in SWTFA.

Director Abrams also just helped raise $750,000 for the Democratic Party at a fundraiser at his Pacific Palisades, California, home.

The adolescent retardation of this interest by our population is vacuous.

While I enjoyed the original STAR WARS (& its sequel), I wouldn't watch it now; I've basically outgrown it. With so much happening in the world today, with so many threats from everywhere, I find I can no longer escape in film or TV the way I used to. Our population is dangerously losing themselves in entertainment.

Carrie looks fine. Getting ready for these things has to be
difficult. Lots of water under the bridge since “Star Wars”
first came out.

In reality, Frances Bavier (who played Aunt Bee) was something of a snob and prima donna who didn’t get along with anyone on the cast of the Griffith show, except Jim Nabors. She behaved the same way when she retired to Siler City, NC. When she passed away in the late 80s, none of her costars attended the funeral and most of her neighbors stayed away as well.

This film is of much less importance than last year’s Super Bowl winner, last year’s World Series winner, last year’s NBA champion, last year’s Academy Award for Best Picture or who won Best of Show at the Westminster Dog Show. Number 1,234 of best films ever made in two years. It will be on Netflix streaming inside of two years.

I’m sure all the Cowboy and Sci-fi tv shows I saw as a kid in the 50’s had a profound effect on me. I read some where most all the Hollywood actors loved to be in westerns. Quite a few of them were excellent riders. Today I wish there were more Westerns. Damn the Oprahs, Jerry Springers, and their ilk. As far as Science Fiction, Americans not only went to the moon and back with a computer no more powerful than a Commodore 64, but drove a car while there. Yes, Americans are unique, don’t let anyone tell you different. The American people desperately need a national project like our moon landings. Yes, I’ll be at the movie come Thursday and I’ll put the politics aside. Take your kids, suffer through it if you must. Hopefully a few of them will be inspired. I was working on a hypersonic project one time back in the 90’s and slipped up in a meeting and called it hyperspace. They nearly all died laughing. Yes, I was inspired at one time too.

"The adolescent retardation of this interest by our population is vacuous. We need to slap these people into reality like the movie Airplane where the passengers slap the hysterical woman to her senses. I don't give a crap about this movie. ZERO interest."

Great. That was good!! These total fantasies indicate our population’s poor maturity and intelligence. They have no clue about the dangers that face them and they inebriate themselves with crap like “star wars.It is very sad.

If you’re in a dark theater and someone’s shooting the people there, take the flashlight, throw it away from you to distract the shooter, and turn him into a well perforated colander.

What do I know? I saw In The Heart Of The Sea and thought it to be a great story. All the critics gave it two out of five stars and panned it. I guess for a five star movie you got to have Billy Bob Thorton humping a mulatto that is moaning like a whale to get five stars.
