I just listened to the audio and CRUZ is just thumping his chest. No biggie. He wants to win. He didn’t say anything but actually compliment Trump for framing the message but CRUZ says he basically has the experience. Yawn! I still like CRUZ but TRUMP will WIN the nomination! GO TRUMP :)

I get the impression this was supposed to be a private meeting and the NYT somehow secretly recorded it in order to start a war between Trump and Cruz.

Cruz's big donors aren't GOPe.
The problem with large donors, is that you have to ‘sell yourself’, constantly, as to why you deserve their BIG money.
What else can Cruz do, in talking to his big $$ donors? Say he knows how far behind he is and that it will take a miracle to catch up to Trump?
The ‘bear hug and smother them with love’ line was hokey, and the arc analogy went flat (polls prove differently)...but again....what you’ll do and say for your donors, right?
His initial vote for TPA was just as his supporters at the Heritage Foundation wanted. It was completely in keeping with Heritage's well-founded conservative principles on trade, a position conservatives have held for decades.
