I see, so the political insiders in Iowa are less corrupt than in New York.

Got it.

By a factor of 10, at least.

First of all, a contested convention can't be bogus. You either have the delegates or you don't. Most state laws require delegates to vote for the candidate that they are pledged to on the first ballot at the convention. If there is no majority, then it goes to the second round and most all delegates then are free agents voting for whom they please.

However, Iowa and NH will do their normal job and will winnow out most of the candidates. The odds of a brokered convention are exceedingly small. The party needs to prepare itself for all kinds of scenarios. That is the function of the party.

It seems you agree what goes on in Iowa in all their little closed door political committees with a bunch of unknowns involved are not corruption free, perfectly legitimate, honest and above board.

Thanks!

Which is why Trump needs to remain in the race, even if Cruz catches him

Whether it's Trump or Cruz we're going to get the same response at the convention.

The GOPe do NOT want either of these men as candidates.

The upside of all of this is that the GOP is eradicating itself as a party.

If Trump and Cruz ran as third party candidates we might see the most astronomical change in American politics in terms of an overwhelming number of Americans voting a third party candidate into office.

The public has reached the point of having vomited enough times over the actions of the uni-party that this is close to becoming a reality.

Only if they manage to deny Trump the nomination.

I see no scenario where Hillary loses. If Trump wins the nomination the establishment pubs stay home or if a GOPe type wins then conservatives stay home. In any of these scenarios including 3rd Party Trump the opposition to the dems is yugely divided - more so than in the past. Add to that MSM control, dem dirty tricks, illegals voting and 1st woman President buzz, etc and Hillary has a huge advantage. I am not sure any of this can be helped because there are honest overdue differences that have to be sorted out at the ballot box. So let the chips fall where they may and we shall see what happens.

I lived in Iowa from 1974 to 2001, save for my time in the service. Iowa sure isn’t perfect, but it is head and shoulders above such cesspools as New York state.

If Trump wins at the convention, I am almost sure they will run Mitt or someone else as an independent 3rd party. The same thing happened against Reagan in 1980 with John Anderson, a RINO Republican.

I’m not so sure they would do the same thing to Cruz. They’d have a much tougher job saying Cruz was totally unacceptable, because his tone is so measured and he doesn’t make outlandish or profane statements. Cruz’ negatives simply aren’t as high as Trump’s, so the idea of a lot of the public saying he’s “unacceptable” is not plausible.

Nothing “corrupt” about social conservatives standing up for their values and reminding the GOP elite that #AbortedLivesMatter.

Levin is talking about this right now. The NRSC and NRCC, who I told you about selling bogus Trump gear is in the middle of this. If they can do this to a Donald Trump, how does any republican think this pit of vipers represent them?

We need to expose the dirty tricks these GOP groups use against us!

The talking heads need to be covering this scam against Trump supporters.

See: More GOP fundraising on the Trump name! Now its the Senate!

Trump, Cruz and other Republicans could win the election easily against Hillary. The issue is the GOP establishment would prefer Hillary win to either of those two.

"They want someone else."

All this talk about a brokered convention assumes Trump does not win a majority of delegates outright.

Ohio, Penn, Calif, NY, FLA are all after March 15th, and I believe winner-take-all.

Calif alone is 1/5 of the delegates needed for the nomination. NY is 1/7th. Fla 1/7th.

Who really believe Trump will not win those 3 states outright? And, Ohio and Penn too.

Those 5 states combined have enough delegates to put him over the top.

Sure, the Republican party COULD change the rules of apportionment or some other maniacal plan AT THE CONVENTION, but any hope they have for ANY down ticket Republican would be sacrificed.

It's time the woke up and realized that they cannot win ANYTHING without Trump.

Rules change over the years for the nomination process. Last I remember is it’s first vote only. Then the delegates can do as they please.

I would rather have a brokered system anyway. It’s more ‘Republic’ which is what we are. It ensures that at the least, we get a consensus candidate that
the majority in the party can support.

Right now, the GOP candidates should be huddling with Trump and doing some horse trading ... supporting him for favors — A legitimate and honorable compromise.

So according to you, Iowa is possibly the lesser of two evils when it comes to political corruption.

They might prove ya wrong this time around.

My understanding is that the critical mass of delegates is not in the southern states.

They are changing rules in the states as we speak regarding how delegates will be awarded.

They also changed the number of states a majority is needed in to 8.
