A Senate committee on Thursday approved a resolution that critics described as an "unprecedented" move granting immigrants easier access to the United States.
The amendment, offered by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.) and first reported on by the Washington Free Beacon, affirms the Senate's belief "that the United States must not bar individuals from entering into the United States based on their religion, as such action would be contrary to the fundamental principles on which this Nation was founded."
The language was offered in response to recent comments from a presidential candidate who called on Muslims to be barred from immigrating to the United States....
...Sessions was joined by Sens. Thom Tillis (R., N.C.), David Vitter (R., La.), and Ted Cruz (R., Texas) in voting no on the resolution.

Thanks, I misread it.
I’m okay with that. Let’s bar all immigrants (legal and illegal), regardless of religion, until our border is secure and enforcement against illegals in the country becomes effective. Let’s also permanently bar all illegals from all paths to citizenship or even to legal reentry, so that the only way for an illegal to gain legal status would be to leave before being caught.
I believe it clearly states that Cruz voted NO.
TEDd Cruz (R., Texas) in voting no on the resolution.
Resolutions cannot counter actual laws.
At least, not in a republic.
At least the enablers of the Koranic invasion are on record.
These folks who so desperately want muslim immigration remind me of the dopes who were waiting on the beach to welcome the Aliens in the movie, “Battle Los Angeles. The Aliens mowed them down the second they got to the beaches..

A vote for yes is a vote for self destruction. It’s the democrat way.
Need a list of who voted FOR this crap. Their offices need to be shut down with emails an phone calls about just how criminally incompetent they are.
Its an Admendment to a bill. It not just a resolution.
More proof, as if we needed any, that the inmates are running the Senate insane asylum.
Yeah. That's not good! The Resolution was "aid and comfort to the enemy," plain and simple.
Yes, I know. See post 21.
He didn’t. I got it wrong.
Resolution Barring Consideration of Religion in Immigration Passes Senate Committee
Dear Senator
If the GOP wishes to control the Senate after the 2016 elections, they best kill this bit of grandstanding PR nonsense quickly. The GOP Leadership of the US Senate could not be more out of touch with the will of the voters on this issue if they were actively trying.
Here is current law. Do not mess with it.
8 U.S. Code § 1182 - Inadmissible aliens
(f) Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any
class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the
interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such
period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or
any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the
entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate

Hard, almost impossible to correct stupidity. What this resolution is saying, ‘it will not stop terrorists from entering America’. And muslims who are followers of the Quran, are by definition, terrorists; believe as we do or die. That does not describe people who should be admitted to America.
Doesn’t all legislation need to be initiated in the House of Reps?
That sounds REALLY good to me !
Isnât it amazing how quickly they can pass THESE laws.
Pathetic, the whole lot.

But is a resolution a law, and can the senate do it without the house?
They are trying to add it to a “must pass” bill to avoid having to debate it. The very fact they are trying to do it under the counter out of sight of the US People is telling.
