After Gun Boss Armory opened for business Monday morning in a Redlands strip mall, Matt Nicholson was among those who walked through the door.
"I've never owned a gun before," Nicholson told an employee behind the counter, who handed him a silver Beretta handgun from a display case.
Nicholson, a 23-year-old Redlands resident, said he had thought about buying a firearm in the past. But the attack that claimed 14 lives at a San Bernardino social services center on Wednesday â about five miles away from Gun Boss Armory â made up his mind.

Wow, that is fixing to hurt when the front sight lays her cheek open.!
I love my Mossberg 590! Similar to below, with heatshield and blade.

When I was about 9 or 10 my Grandpa and uncles were going shooting and I was bugging the heck out of them to go. They took me. Set me on the hood of the car and rammed Grandpa’s shotgun into my shoulder and pointed me towards the target. Knocked me backwards off the car. Learned my lesson the hard way my first time shooting. Lol
For home defense a short barrel pump is the best option.
Shotgun for HD. Pistol for PD. Rifle for LD.
A young person with zero experience might want to consider a revolver.
YEP, you can bet a large majority are gun grabbing idealists...When reality backs into your driveway ... suddenly idealism is not such a great idea...
I got a Mossberg Maverick because it has the crossbar safety on the trigger guard. I was able to install an ATI top mount, folding stock with pistol grip and extra shell carrier.
It even has a lever you must push in order to chamber a shell in case someone takes it and tries to load it w/o permission.
My very favorite firearm. Pleasant to shoot with 38SPL. Potent for self-defense or hunting with 357mag. Straight wall cases are dirt simple to reload. The bead ball blast stainless steel is easy to maintain. No bluing to wear off.
This is America. You can fight back here. You don’t need to be big or strong. You just have to be an American.
I have an older 686-7 manufactured before they stopped showing the left side of the gun in photographs so as not to reveal the hammer lock. It’s a 7” Performance Center model and has the nicest handgun trigger in my collection.
I have a scope mounted on top which is kind of an old fashioned thing to do, but too late to change it now.
Too many hurry to close the barn door only after the bull has run off.
FYI: That pistol is not legal in California.
Sucks here for CC, or any other firearm freedom issue.
Very nice. Nothing beats the simplicity and reliability of a good revolver.
Just don’t expect to hit anything accurately wth the .410 over 10 yds. The .45LC is fine but there are better revolvers for that.
Is she holding that properly? It looks like the sight is going to hit her in the cheek.
True and true, but they make awkward carry pieces...
Serbu super shorty!
Comparison:
She should be leaning forward more and the stock should be firmly held against her shoulder. She did not actually shoot it that way, but it is obvious that the stock is too big for her. (Wrong length of pull.) That will throw your aim way off.
Here’s the video.
