Trump Getting Stronger in NC; Islamophobia Helps Fuel That Strength (PPP Poll)
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/north-carolina/ ^

Posted on 12/08/2015 9:17:55 AM PST by RoosterRedux

PPP's new North Carolina poll finds Donald Trump at his highest level of support in the state yet. He's at 33% to 16% for Ted Cruz, 14% each for Ben Carson and Marco Rubio, 5% for Jeb Bush, 4% for Chris Christie, 3% for John Kasich, 2% each for Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, and Rand Paul, 1% each for Lindsey Graham and Rick Santorum, and less than 1% each for Jim Gilmore and George Pataki.

When Trump led in our July North Carolina poll it was the first poll to find him leading the GOP pack anywhere in the country. Since then he's increased his support in every poll- from that 16% starting point in July he went to 24% in August, 26% in September, 31% in October, and now this 33% standing in December. Trump is also broadly popular with Republicans in the Tar Heel state- his 63/26 favorability rating puts him behind only Carson (64/23) and is improved from 52/35 on our last poll.

Trump's Islamophobia is a central feature of his appeal to his supporters:

-67% of his voters support a national database of Muslims in the United States, to only 14% opposed to it.

-62% believe his claims that thousands of Arabs cheered in New Jersey when the World Trade Center collapsed, to only 15% who don't believe that.

-51% want to see the Mosques in the country shut down, to only 16% against that.

-And only 24% of Trump supporters in the state even think Islam should be legal at all in the United States, to 44% who think it shouldn't be.

Ah yes, of course PPP’s writers give themselves away with their usage of the term ‘Islamophobia’. After seeing that term in the excerpt, it is not necessary to read further regardless of the numbers they report.

Someone said after the Paris attacks that Trump was just elected.

And then San bernadino. I’m a Cruz guy, but it looks like trump may be it this time.

Islam should be treated like the Thuggee cult in India and eradicated.

Is it Islamophobia to oppose Islam? - Or is to not oppose Islam ignorance and/or cowardice?

A phobia is an irrational fear with no basis. However, to read much of the Koran, to hear the chants of “Death to America,” to see the threats to humanity in Shariah Law against women having rights and to all Men and Women that will Not bow to it, it is not a “phobia” to oppose it. To see in the News the daily bombings of Marketplaces, the beheadings, drowning or burning alive of captives, and psychotic protest demonstrations against even cartoons and all free speech, should make Liberals and ALL Americans realize that Radical Islam is on the march and Must Be Opposed.

Yes, we are at war and Islam is the enemy.

There are nominal Muslims just like there are nominal Christians. One can be legitimately afraid of Islam while not afraid of nominal Muslims.

If you aren’t opposed to growth of Islam in the US then you are either a Muslim, an idiot, or traitor. We can see in Europe our future if we continue to play the chump and allow internationalists to destroy everything that made America great.

There are nominal Muslims just like there are nominal Christians.

Mygosh, do those nominal Christians enable beheadings and other disgusting acts of terrorism?

Either they speak out and work to eradicate terrorist sympathizers in their ranks or they're part of the problem.

No the Political/Media establishment’s mindless Islamophilia is fueling it. There is no such thing as Islamophobia. American have a perfectly rational, logical, reasonable concerns about those who practice Islam.

I didn’t say this to excuse nominal Muslims for their failures — just to remind Freepers that our nominal Christians can be just as evil in their own areas — abortion, socialism, sexual depravity, cowardice, etc.

That’s about what I expected. I think when PPP Iowa comes out, Trump is up comfortably-—5-6 points, maybe more. The Cruz “boomlet” is over, as I think he’s already siphoned off all the Carson disillusioned voters that he’s going to get.
