This is a Brilliant Move by Donald Trump
Red State ^ | Erik Erickson

Posted on 12/07/2015 8:16:38 PM PST by VinL

Donald Trump just trumped all the Republican candidates for President.

The day after the mom jeans wearing squat to pee President came out to assure us that tolerance, gun control, and climate change would save us from ISIS, Donald Trump demanded we bar any muslims from entering this country and bar any American citizen who is muslim from re-entering the United States.

Set aside the merits of what amounts to at least, in part, an unconstitutional position.

This is actually brilliant politics for the here and now. Immediately, every other Republican candidate except Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% rushed out to attack Donald Trump. He’s unhinged, hateful, etc. And the responses all amounted to "we must let muslims enter our country," which sounds a whole lot like "we must allow all Mexicans in our country," which everyone knows is blatantly untrue on both counts.

We do not have to do it, but the other candidates, unable to nuance their spittle, went all in with "no religious tests" and "yes we must do this because it is who we are."

So, to put it another way, the day after the President failed to reassure a scared public following the second worst terrorist attack since 9/11 on domestic soil, Donald Trump not only got himself to the right of all the other candidates, but also got every single one of them save for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% to align themselves with Barack Obama.

Hate Donald Trump all you want, be offended by his proposal all you want, but it is really brilliant politics for Trump right now in the Republican primary and the reactions from the other candidates prove it. All the people attacking Trump on his immigration proposals now attacking him on this have done themselves no favors within the primary process.

Have none of these people read Art of the Deal? This is an opening, bombastic salvo to set the terms of negotiations and the other candidates except Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% just decided to negotiation in Barack Obama’s position. And it comes at a time some polls are suggesting Trump is starting to fade in places like Iowa.

“I play to people’s fantasies,” he writes. “People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular.”

Boy ain't that the truth right there

And people are dranking the drank

FLAME ON!!!!!!

Erickson read "The Art of the Deal"? Hard to believe.

When Trump wins over Erik Erickson, this deal is done.

If he was just spouting off at the mouth, T could have said this a long time ago. I too believe he calculated the nuances of what he was going to say, projected the backlash, and went ahead with it. The guy seems emotional, because he stakes out perilous positions, but I think he’s more cerebral and calculates the outcomes of these broadsides. I don’t totally understand, but I like it.

You can tell the other candidates are finished once they all became grouped as shill reactionaries. They have completely failed to drive any major or relevant debate. Now they are confined as mewling talking heads who perform on demand for the leftist media.

Haha. Are you serious?

Americans DO NOT WANT MUSLIMS IN THIS COUNTRY!

The entire government has proven itself to be incompetent, irresponsible, and malignant.

Americans heard from Donald Trump - “I want to stop you from being murdered, to make sure you are safe”

Everyone else - “It’s not American, and the law the law (unless it’s obama) bla bla bla”

Point is. Donald Trump is obviously for Americans.

Anyone that doesn’t agree with Trump is for islam in your streets. At YOUR Christmas parties. Eyeballing your daughters. Demanding you kneel and swear allegiance to islam.

It is as simple as that. We are at war with an entire culture/religion/cult/way of life. Islam isn’t like going to a church on Sunday. It’s like going to Church everyday but if church was a gulag.

Everyone but Donald Trump wants American blood to run in the streets. Clear enough to me.

the second worst terrorist attack since 9/11

The “second worst” *since* 9/11? What was the most worst?

Especially when it could be argued a lot of these so called “citizens” would be committing treason. This is a good way to get rid of all the terror cells that are in this country.

I’d be inclined to give Ted a pass on his response. It was not his moment, and he chose to slough instead of saying yea or nay. I believe Ted Cruz would be diligent about the threats to our nation. I believe he is serious about investigating and prosecuting those who have scoffed at the law in the last eight years. But there was nothing he could add to or take away from Trump’s statement, so I don’t blame him for taking the neutral path in this instant.

“In reality,” he writes, “I wasn’t that far along, but I did everything I could, short of going to work at the site myself, to assure them that my casino was practically finished. My leverage came from confirming an impression they were already predisposed to believe.”

This should be a clear warning to the Conservatives on this board that they are being played for fools by Trump.

My sweetheart brought that Egypt figure to my attention. It is the highest on the chart. I wonder what percent of Egyptians favor making sharia the law of the land. If that figure is relatively low, then that could explain the high death penalty figure, and also the high figure for Jordan.

Of course the do... they expect resistance. When they receive carte blanche, as they have now, that has to be the bigger surprise.

I read Art of the Deal some 35 years ago. As a result I have much more wealth than if I had not read it. Several of the items quoted that worked for me are: “Most people think small...”, “I always go into the deal anticipating the worst...”, “never get too attached to one deal or one approach...”, “not afraid to blur reality to utilize leverage...”. He speaks of “delivering the goods.” My similar approach was keeping my promises.

Since writing that book, Trump has had his reality TV shows which have increased his tendency to grandstand. He and Christy tend to seem similar because they come from New York and New Jersey. I grew up in NJ, so speak from experience. Now that I have what feels to me like enough money I am looking for other big challenges, like changing my city or the world.

Egypt is considered a 'moderate' Muslim nation. 86% of Egyptians think you should be murdered if you leave Islam.

Has anybody gotten around to asking those moderates whether Barry Hussein qualifies for their ~ahem~ scorn since he now wears the politically safe label of Christian?

Surely they must have something to say about a natural-born-muslim switching teams. Just saying.

I agree with Trump, prevent them from entering and export every single one from America now. The future of our country depends on it.
