Donald Trump, the Kevlar candidate — invincible despite hostile media
The Washington Times ^ | 12/2/2015 | Jennifer Harper

Posted on 12/03/2015 8:39:05 AM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Even the pollsters now wonder if Republican front-runner Donald Trump is made of Kevlar, Teflon or maybe tempered steel. Despite the efforts of an unfriendly news media and hostile political operatives, Mr. Trump continues to best the competition on both sides of the aisle. Trump is Trump; he is a candidate who ignores polls and embraces candor, humor, nerve, verve and occasional bombastic insults. Republican voters stand by him. Why is this?

"Millions of Americans who are currently supporting Donald Trump may not even be too thrilled with him as a person. They are supporting him because they feel he could be a person capable of turning the country around. They are also supporting him because they don't have confidence in America's current leadership," says Frieda Birnbaum, a New York City-based psychologist and author. "Supporting Trump is a means to vent their frustration on the establishment. America appears hungry for strong leadership, and for right now Trump is fulfilling that need."

He also appears to articulate what big blocs of voters are thinking at any moment. As case in point, here is a sample description of President Obama's strategy on Islamic State to Fox News:

"He doesn't know what he's doing. We have someone who doesn't know what he's doing. Every time he sends troops over, even if it's a small number, like he's sending another small number. He announced 50 last week. He has a press conference to inform everybody he's sending troops, and it's like they have a target on their back. If you do your job, do your job. Don't talk about it. Too much talk," Mr. Trump told the network Wednesday.

If Trump gets the nomination as I am sure he will, do you think the Cruz/Carson supporters will vote Trump or not vote at all? If they just don’t vote, do you think he has enough support from youth, Reagan Dems, etc to win the general?

The difference between him and 90% of the GOP...

He fights back, down and dirty. And that’s how you win.

How do, brother MK.. things are well by you, I hope?

Yep...from day one this guy was my candidate...haven't wavier, haven't worried, haven't doubted my decision....

He is mostly already leading this Country, he has pulled back the curtains and shown us how corrupt the GOPe, RINO base, media and talking heads are, we understand now...

That's why the spineless sissies in the House and Senate don't want him to be POTUS, he will pull back the curtain on them and show us their greed and corruption...

And he is showing us now the ‘political’ candidates and how they are ‘handled’ by their super pacs and lobbyists and can't do and say the things he is doing and saying...

GO TRUMP ALL THE WAY TO THE OVAL OFFICE!!!

Now, see. That’s where I am, too. Trump’s enemies control or influence trillions of dollars, and there he stands: a colossus. His own man, with his own $$.

Yes, he works with probably more than a few made guys....including Congress.

I never took much thought about him on “The Apprentice.” It was not interesting.

I also don’t like him much. Then again, it’s not like we run in the same circles, by a magnitude of ‘Kevin Bacon.’

Actually, it is the hostile media which makes him even more attractive.

It is becoming increasingly clear that this country is being divided into the wagon pullers and the wagon riders.

At one time, we took a sympathetic view of the wagon riders as people just needed a little temporary assistance or those who earned the right to ride the wagon by doing so much pulling when they were able.

Now, it is becoming more and more clear that many of the riders did nothing to deserve it other than getting themselves elected to government office or appointed to team government favored jobs and that they are hell-bent on overloading the wagon with more riders and telling the pullers to just work harder.

How Trump is being treated is exposing the Leftist media machine more and more as the shameless propaganda arm of the DC Uniparty and the Donor class.

The Media is recklessly and rapidly destroying their sole source of credibility. They have spent decades marketing themyth that they are “fair and objective”. The current treatment of Trump is demonstrate to millions of average Americans how obvious a lie that is for “Journalsits” to claim that standard

Currently Journalists have a 7% favorably rating in most polls, before Trump is done, that number will probably be 1%. The only people who will have favorable options of them will be the “Journalists” themselves.

What does Arnold have to do with Trump?

Both come to politics as outsiders with huge media gifts and leadership appeal. (I had no trouble with the analogy.) I'm hoping that the difference between them outweighs the similarity, because as governor, Arnold seemed to lose all principle, and then all intellect.

What's promising is that Trump has built his career by working through other people's work, day by day. That more closely resembles political leadership than do body-building or acting, which focus you on yourself: self-discipline and a significant quota of self-absorption.

I am a Cruz supporter, he is my first choice, BUT I also support & will vote Trump in the primaries. WHY because I want to WIN and Trump is the bulldozer to pave the way for Cruz in 2024.

I am encouraging my children to do the same. So Yes, I believe all of Cruz supporters will vote Trump, there is no more staying home JUST BECAUSE of whatever they hate this time.

I WANT TO WIN for a change.

I pray for Trump, because I know he is fighting a trillion dollar Congressional cartel. He is in constant danger.

So do I FRiend, I hope that Trump literally has the best security money can buy, over and above whatever has been provided to him by the U.S. Secret Service, which seems to be utterly abysmal lately.

Honestly, I think Trump gets the Archie Bunker vote. That is not necessarily a bad thing, mind you, but it is what it is.

America loved Archie Bunker because he just came out and said what many were thinking when PC was really in its infancy. According to Norman Lear, the character was supposed to be a buffoonish foil that would sway the viewers over to the arguments of the thinking, liberal character, Meathead. It just didn’t turn out that way, much to Lear’s chagrin. America actually felt what Archie Bunker expressed and loved him.

Trump taps into the same thing. He says what many wish they too could tell the world if only they had a platform to preach from. Like Archie, he is always as far from PC as can be imagined. This is his greatest appeal, especially when it comes to immigration and terrorism. The more over the top his statements (from the media’s point of view) the more he consolidates his base.

For me, Trump is a “hold your nose when you pull the lever” candidate. He is right on a few key issues. He has an incredibly liberal past on all too many other important issues for me to consider supporting in the primaries.

His biggest plus is his all-out attack on all things PC. It is the bedrock of progressivism. Democrats have cowed the masses with PC and have been able to advance their agenda because of it. The most recent example is the neighbors of the terrorists who attacked yesterday. The neighbors knew they were up to no good yet remained silent because political correctness has been pounded into them. They didn’t want appear as though they were profiling. The ridiculous college campus safe-space micro-aggression claptrap is nothing but the PC crowd taking the next, dangerous, step.

Do I want a President Trump? No. Not at all. Will I vote for him in the general if Cruz doesn’t somehow sneak in? Probably. I just will not like it one little bit.

"Millions of Americans who are currently supporting Donald Trump may not even be too thrilled with him as a person.

I was one of those, in the beginning. That's because I bought the media narrative that Trump was a "clown", a loudmouth gadfly and a "TV reality star" (I have yet to watch a single episode of "The Apprentice"). But I was an early supporter of Trump because I realized that career politicians weren't getting it done and out of desperation, I was willing to try somebody from the outside with no connections to the Beltway establishment and a lot of private sector business and world experience.

But the more I got to know Trump and the more I read about his life and career, the more impressed I am of Trump as a person. Away from the media circus that surrounds him, he seems to be a very decent man who treats his employees and family exceedingly well. He strikes me as a patriotic and conservative man who loves America and will fight like hell to get us back on the right path.

I watched his entire performance in Virginia last night from his speech to his Q&A and realized that this is the person we need to send to Washington. I have a lot of respect for Ted Cruz and believe that he will also make a great president. But he's only 44 and can wait another cycle or two. Right now, I feel we need Trump.

Yeah. And invincible despite ample evidence that he is a long-time political moderate who leans left.

I really don't care what he is like “as a person.” I'm not going on a date with the guy. I want him to make correct decisions for this country, following the Constitution. That is all we should know of or care about any politician.

I would add that it is also necessary for the president to be an honest and honorable man. I do not see Trump as dishonest or dishonorable even though h was not very good in the marriage department in his younger days, but he does not treat his ex-wives or children dishonorably, and he does not appear to be dishonest in his business dealings.

Yes! Go Trump!!

This is absolutely a blast to watch Trump destroy the media and the GOPe. We will not get another Billionaire self financed candidate with personality of the Donald who resonates with working middle class for another 50 years.
