I really don't care what he is like “as a person.” I'm not going on a date with the guy. I want him to make correct decisions for this country, following the Constitution. That is all we should know of or care about any politician.
I would add that it is also necessary for the president to be an honest and honorable man. I do not see Trump as dishonest or dishonorable even though h was not very good in the marriage department in his younger days, but he does not treat his ex-wives or children dishonorably, and he does not appear to be dishonest in his business dealings.
I had zero problem with Ronald Reagan divorcing his first wife. People can grow apart. Circumstances and needs change. Many times it works better for both to dissolve an unhappy marriage.
Ideally we would have both competence and integrity in our leader. But if both were not present in the same man, would we prefer a decent, honorable man who always made the wrong decisions, or a self-centered stinker who made correct decisions? I lean towards the latter.
