With Chicago's top cop gone, activists eye mayor next

CHICAGO - After Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel fired Garry McCarthy from his post as Chicago police chief amid the Laquan McDonald shooting fallout, protesters danced in the streets.

However, CBS Chicago reports that while the protesters had gotten their wish with McCarthy's ouster, they said they wanted more, and have set their sights on Mayor Emanuel and Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez for their handling of the fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald by Police Officer Jason Van Dyke.

Van Dyke has been charged with murder for McDonald's death, and video of the shooting released last week shows him shooting McDonald 16 times on Oct. 20, 2014, as McDonald was walking away from police.

Play Video Chicago's top cop dropped

Protesters have expressed outrage that the video was released more than a year after the incident, and that what it shows contradicts the statements made by some Chicago police and officials, namely that McDonald had attacked police.

The anger towards Emanuel was also on display at the premiere of Spike Lee's "Chi-Raq" on Tuesday night.

Lee's satire is based on the ancient Greek play "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes. This modern adaptation is about the murder of a child hit by a stray bullet in Chicago's South Side, and the group of women that organize a unique way of dealing with the ongoing violence; they hold back sex.

Chicago actor John Cusack, who appears in the film, said the shootings and killings in Chicago each year are "unacceptable," and cited political motives.

He said the police officer involved in shooting the 17-year-old wasn't charged or the superintendent fired until the city's election had passed. Emanuel won a second term earlier this year. The shooting took place in 2014.

"It's very tragic that information was suppressed for an election cycle," Cusack said.

One of the organizers of the protests that followed McCarthy's fired echoed Cusack's concern.

Aislinn Sol told CBS Chicago: "We've been wanting McCarthy fired. We've been wanting Rahm to be fired. We've been wanting Anita Alvarez to be fired."

In an interview with Politico released Tuesday, Emanuel addressed and dismissed concerns about a cover-up. He repeated the claim Chicago officials have often made, namely that the controversial Laquan McDonald video was a primary piece of evidence in an ongoing and serious investigation, and that releasing it any earlier would have damaged official efforts.

"If you're worried about a cover up - the last person you should be worried about is me," Emanuel said. "All that information is with the FBI, when they conclude it, all of those things will be answered. If there's an action required after that, to hold people accountable, we will."

This could become interesting.

This battle produces the definition of ambivalence.

Just get out the popcorn.

Rahm Emanuel may be forced out by the mob.

I wouldn’t shed tears over his downfall.

So are the Sh*tcargo blacks going to vote Republican? Are they going to vote for a real law and order guy that demands police behave professionally?

If they don’t this is all just drama queens in black face

That would be epic if they did it in Chi-Raq right now. All those sperm donors running around and none of the women willing to bed them. You think the violence is bad now.....

A lot of non-blacks in positions of power/wealth are in the crosshairs of blacks that have been emboldened to believe they can fill every slot with a token black.

He would be replaced by someone as bad or worse. Don’t expect a reformer in The Toddlin’ City.

Ah, the old color of their skin rather than the content of their character. The BLM mob will want one of their unqualified loons installed.

Aboslutely absurd that the Ballet Dancer had not seen the video over the last year. Election year ploy, the Police Chief is a souless pric going down with the ship without the Ballet Dancer right by his side. I can only imagine the deal that was cut. I’m sure the Godfather said “You and your Family want to live or die?”

No credible Republican has been on the mayoral ballot since roughly the 1950’s; if Rahm was going to be shown the door (as he so richly deserves to be) it would have happened in the Democrat primary, in which he was challenged by a Hispanic who was a borderline Marxist (and we know how some of those Hispanics deal with borders).

Chicago mayoral politics has devolved to power struggles involving the moneyed interests who profit from the crony capitalism in city hall, machine bosses who maintain their power behind the scenes, union thugs who want to maintain their rent-seeking, and jockeying for table scraps among the “leaders” of the black and Hispanic communities. Rahm has excelled in cultivating the business community and the machine bosses; he couldn’t give two shiites about the blacks and the Hispanics - he just does what he has to to keep them quiet. Hopefully, they won’t be quiet much longer.

Any Republcan, Tea Party or conservative influence in the city is as good as dead - almost everyone with those inclinations fled to the ‘burbs decades ago. Either the blacks and the Hispanics will wake up and figure out they’ve been played for chumps, or Chicago will turn into Detroit.

I’m betting on the latter.

Just another city that Democrat rule has dragged into the sewer.

Obama and Rahm and the rest of the criminals were the kingpins of Chicago criminal politics ensconced in our WH. The stench from the Chicago sleaze permeated the putrid Capitol Hill air... starting w/ Obama's COS Rahm Emanuel.

================================================

THIS MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD shortly after quitting his powerful WH job as Obama's COS, Rahm held a presser declaring he "just remembered" he really, Really wanted to be Mayor of Chicago. Then Rahm announced he had magically "raised" $30 million for his campaign in "just a matter of weeks." (waiting for hysterical laughter to die down).

Ya gotta wonder how much the cunning onetime Wall Streeter wired offshore when Obama put Rahm--in a dual role---as his COS....... AND in charge of the entire US Treasury.

================================================

BACKSTORY---THE KINGPINS OF CHICAGO CRIMINAL POLITICS IN OUR WH wasted no time.....they had a stranglehold on the Census, AND the US Treasury, from day one.

The minute Obama/Valerie/Rahm/Axelrod/Geithner, and that Practiced bunch of Chicago criminals, landed in the WH they did two things that were apparently crucial to their evil plans

(a) they took control of the US Census;

(b) Obama placed his COS Rahm Emanuel in control of the US Dept of the Treasury (cabinet-level agency oversees IRS).

THE SMOKING GUN---WSJ REPORT--On Jan 20, 2009 Timothy Geithner was appointed Obama's Secy of the Treasury. But within three weeks, the Obama White House tightened its grip on Treasury. Obama put his COS, Rahm Emanuel, in charge of Treasury---Rahm Emanuel's dual role was an unusual move.

When he got to Treasury, WH COS Rahm Emanuel was so involved in the inner workings of the Treasury that the phrase "Rahm wants it" had become an unofficial mantra among subservient govt staffers, prostrate in obeisance, scurrying to accede to Rahm's wishes, according to Treasury government officials. Reported by WSJ / 05/31/09

=============================================

THIS POLITICAL SCUMBAG REALLY GETS AROUND---earlier Rahm was a high-ranking henchman in the Bill Clinton admin AT THE SAME TIME he was a lobbyist for Goldman Sachs.

“”If you’re worried about a cover up - the last person you should be worried about is me,” Emanuel said.”

That statement coming from a man who say’s:”Never let a good crisis go to waste!” Just hope those who seek to oust him remember that.

I'd guess something more like Baltimore than Detroit.

It's a shame only "activists" , (I read this as BLM loons), want Rahm gone. What about the average Joe? Is Joe wary of opposing the Democrat regime?

Forget it Jake, it's Chi-town?

The activists are looking for the next Kwame Kilpatrick to lead their city. They can do for Chicago what Kilpatrick did for Detroit.

Actually, Chicago is just a crappy cesspool. It doesn’t matter who they elect next as head grifter.
