Married couples slept in twin beds, and if they were
in the same bed they had to have one foot on the floor
at all times.  You could be forgiven for wondering how
they managed to have children at all.

This had its drawbacks.  The divorce rate began its long march upward with the generation raised on Father Knows Best and Ozzie and Harriet.  Having come to believe married life was what they saw on the television, the rather different reality of it produced a disenchantment many couldn't get over.  At about this time, "shacking up" began to lose its pejorative potential as people increasingly opted for "cohabitation" rather than serial marriage and divorce.

You guys? Meaning me? I hated Romney and that was actually the first time I did not work the phones at GOP central or do anything to help with the campaign. Even with McCain, because Palin was the VP candidate, I got out there and worked.

But I still remember your no doubt hero, Rush Limbaugh, gushing about how he had seen Romney and his freaky looking wife going out to vote and telling listeners “what a decent, decent man” Romney was and what a beautiful family he had and how wonderful it was to have him running. But now Rush has switched to Trump so all is forgiven.

What is this guy talking about?

When no one was watching, he was assuming command of this Fringe Establishment, building an army of activists and avatars that he would eventually deploy in his scorched-earth assault on the GOP's old guard, on his rivals in the primary field - and, as an early test case in the winter of 2014, on me.

There is never a left wing fringe. There is no extreme left. There are no left wing fanatics. And there is such a thing as a moderate muslim.

Gives almost NO support for his thesis.

Trump is supported by a centrist conservative-moderate electorate because of his immigration platform.

But the media doesn’t want anyone to know that.
Increasing and easing immigration is supposed to be the centrist position.

So they make up whatever they can out of whatever’s at hand.

Well, Franco was actually an excellent general and a reluctant warrior who did feel that he was called to protect Spain. He was also a gentleman and obviously completely non-corrupt, since the left has spent the last 40 years since his death trying to get something on him. Some of his supporting officials were not that good and he didn’t rein them in, but that was about the worst you could say.

The problem with Trump is that he doesn’t really have a program. Hitler, Lenin and even Stalin all had programs, and normally a populist uses the currents of popular opinion and the grievances of various segments to get himself and his program into power.

Obama was a populist, tapping into black and working class white resentment along with the desire of the leftist intellectual world to support s black (even faux black) person. But he had the left wing of the Democratic Party supplying him with a program, whereas Trump has nothing, not even the GOP platform, since he doesn’t support or even appear to know most of it. So once the anger runs out or once it comes time for voters who aren’t as angry, I think there will be nothing left.

These are just my observations. I’m not working for anybody. I’d vote for Cruz if he can manage to get enough broad support to be the candidate, although I’m not really thrilled about him, for some reason. But I have a lurking feeling that somebody else is going to emerge - although I don’t know who - and I certainly hope so. Otherwise it will be president Hillary hellacious Clinton and Billy Jeff redux.

Yes, and once these things get started, it is very fluid, which could be good or bad. While Cruz is not perfect, he does have a solid grounding in the American conservative tradition and truly is a Constitutionalist. He is also far more reliable in my estimation to protect genuine religious freedom, especially given his father's family's life story.

If Trump comes in on a wave, he may force a lot of fissures to rupture. Then there will be the new reality where one or both parties look radically different than they did in 2009. Given the legal structure in most states and at the national level, I don't see a replacement third party, only one or both of the two existing parties to morph into something new.

It was touching how the boys kept up with Barbara Billingsley over the years and visited her before she died in 2010; hard to believe it’s been five years now. I believe I read she was a heavy smoker, like Pat Nixon and Jackie Kennedy.

I always though Billingsley looked like Pat Nixon; they were three years apart in age.

Didn’t ‘’The Andy Griffith Show’’ have some episodes partly in church? Of course, Gene Kelly’s ‘’Going My Way’’ did.

Like you, I’m a Cruz supporter, but if Trump wins the nomination, I’ll campaign for him.

And of course, the adults wore pajamas to bed and wore dresses and pearls to clean. My mother never wore dresses to clean only slacks.

regarding a program, there are enough self evident problems that need immediate and perhaps long range attention that a program is not necessary.

Tending to the problems remaining in Iraq is a big piece of work. Tending to the elimination of Obamacare is a very big piece of work.Tending to the actual and effective closing of the borders is a big piece of work.

Just these three will have unintended consequences that must be tended to.

By close attention to the above three, Trump can go a long way towards Making America Great Again which is program enough for starters.

I am hangin there for Dr Carson

Not really. Cruz is a slightly better version of a mainstream GOPer. Cruz is establishment all the way.
