Proposal would mean passengers wouldn't have to wait to board, and planes would spend less time on the ground...
The proposal would see passengers "board" the cabin and take their seats, before it is lifted like a shipping container onto the back of the plane. It is then fixed into place and the plane operates as normal....
The idea is designed to speed up the boarding process by allowing ticket-holders to take their seats before their plane is ready and in position at the airport's gate...
"The period of imobilisation on the ground of the aeroplanes between two successive flights increases their operational cost. Indeed, the longer this period of immobilisation, the less actual flight time of each aeroplane," Airbus stated in its filing...
"Passengers could be pre-seated in cabin pods before the plane actually arrives, ready for integration on the aircraft, saving time and making processing much simpler."
The aircraft manufacturer also believes its proposal - dubbed the "aircraft pod concept" will allow planes to be modified quickly and easily. This could allow changes to allow "different levels of comfort" for passengers....
However, Airbus' proposal requires new docking stations and equipment to transport the "pods" between the airport and the plane.

I’m up with that.
Not to mention the rattling that would happen in flight after a few hundred pod changes.
no, it wasn’t the DC3
I have conair on my mind but know that isn t right either.
it started with a C
“...The plane faced mechanical issues forcing a delay of several hours, before passengers were finally allowed to de-pod.”
I recall it was said to be one of the two worst movies ever made.
Leni
Me too.
I can see arriving an additional 30 minutes early so they can load and preposition the pod.
**There is an older, simpler solution that has little effect on the air frame..... a rear door with steps descending to a lower level**
The DB Cooper door
Perfect solution. The time saved would be monumental. Passengers would be very happy with this.
Great! When you wake up with rug burns on your knees and elbows and your underwear on backwards you'll forget all about your lost luggage.
You are right, it could not have been a DC3 as it is a tail dragger. The one I recall had that stair case type steps coming down from the tail section.
I could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time.
Actually that's not a bad idea. All airplanes could be designed as cargo hulls and the roll-on passenger modules could be configured in a myriad of ways. That would simplify airplane design and allow passengers to select their preferred level of comfort.
Cabin size looks about the same as on a normal plane. Why would this be more claustrophobic?
Countless things could go wrong. I’ll stick to driving.
Just strip everyone naked and shove them into the cabin standing. Once they’re packed in nice and tight you can turn on the showers when airborne.
Its a great idea if the pod floats and has a chute.
I call "BullSh!t." The math of that claim needs to be shown. If that person builds planes I ain't goin!
It came to me...... Convair
I couldn’t find a picture tho
Air busted is the best design? You bet. When I see them do a barrel roll with one of theirs then I will begin to believe.
Airbus has significant design errors in their control systems — thus the loss of several aircraft due to computer centric rather than pilot centric designs.
What exactly was that experience? How did you make this determination?
