Donald Trump, leading Republican candidate for president, took his spat with the New York Times to the next level, doubling down on his denial of mocking a handicapped reporter and then demanding the newspaper apologize for accusing him of doing so.
In tweets sent out Thanksgiving Day, Trump said once again he didn't poke fun of Serge Kovaleski, a New York Times journalist who suffers from arthrogryposis, a congenital condition that restricts the movements of his arms.
His campaign first opened with this clarification: "Donald J. Trump today demanded an apology fro the failing New York Times which accused him (during a major speech before 10,000 people in Myrtle Beach, SC) of mocking a reporter's physical disability when in fact, Mr. Trump does not know anything about the reporter or anything about what the reporter looks like. He was merely mocking the fact that the reporter was trying to pull away from a story that he wrote 14 years ago."

“I gotta admit I donât think I could take 8 years of this crap with Trump and the media and the back and forth - it is exhausting to listen too.”
The only thing that’s going to make the lying media shut up its slander is for the American public to call them out for what they are; liars and propagandists. We should stop leaving the calling out to one or two people. I love this “crap” because Donald Trump is finally saying what the public has needed to say for a long time but lacked the guts to defy the Liberal mindset.
“Good, weed out the leftist traitors one by one. Eventually, all that will be left to cover DT events will be the patriots and honest reporters.”..........
When/if that happens, there won’t be too much press coverage of trump as there are VERY FEW “patriots and honest reporters” out there.
The NYT is well known for raising a false flag, it is not working like it use to at least not with Trump.
Right on, Buckeye.
We all know what Trump is angry at — establishment LIES.
He could make personal attacks on every pro-establishment reporter in the world, and I’d bet half the farm that it would only make him more popular.
[If I did have a farm to bet, it would be the biggest on earth by now.]
“The NYT is well known for raising a false flag ...”
And frankly Charlette, how much of a fig do people give anyway?
Does anyone honestly think that Trump likes to belittle disabled people simply because they are disabled?
Do you understand the concept of warfare at all?
“I donât think I could take 8 years of this crap with Trump and the media and the back and forth - it is exhausting to listen too.”
When you’re taking flak, it means you are a threat to the enemy.
If no one is willing to be the battleship that sails into the line of fire, then civilization would be finished.
Utterly gone.
Actually and ironically, the Supreme Court case of New York Times v. Sullivan established the standard for libel cases involving a public official OR a public figure.
This 1964 ruling set the standard as “actual malice” which means actually knowing the statement is false or a acting in knowing disregard of the truth or falsity.
This is a very high standard. Trump here is obviously a public figure and one who willing injected himself into the public arena. Whether he might have success in bringing such a defamation suit is, like all of them, fact specific. It seems that on its face he might well be able to credibly file such a lawsuit from a strictly legal standpoint.
This is great. It is as though he has read, understands and utilizes Rules For Radicals.
Trump, Rush, Hannity, Beck, Levin, Coulter, Jim Robinson — etc ...
They all have one thing in common — they take enemy fire. They are our batttleships. In politics not everyone can be a submarine.
I did not like it much when Trump taunted Carson, but the way he keeps going, how can I not forgive the man?
“Just watched the Trump video again and in no way is that an imitation of a crippled person. What is happening is that people are isolating a second of time in which his right arm comes up to chest level and then freezing it. But the video shows both hands flying around in comic fluster and embarrassment.”
Actually the video shows Trump doing spastic movements, not a second of frozen video. See for yourself in the video below.

Not that I care but it does appear to be mocking a spaz and not a random movement.
I'd find that easier to accept at face value if we weren't talking about someone who habitually takes to ranting on the airwaves and Twitter at any perceived slight. Trump knows who the guy is, IMO.
Maybe we would aim a little higher than that. Nothing wrong with pointing out the flaws in the MSM.
Generally true. However, he precedes it by saying, "That poor guy...."
I'm not exactly stretching things to infer he's familiar with the man and his condition.
LOL!
Bwahahahaha.
I really, really, hope you're right.
I'm going to chuckle all day thinking about that.
hehe.
Some additional info. The guy trump is mocking does not appear to have spastic movements so the mocking isnt very accurate. It is also supplying more ammunition for his opponents if he wins the primary. In my opinion it is STUPID to needlessly give voters reason to dislike you. It gives them incentive and motivation to go the polls and vote against you. Trump does this constantly and it will hurt him in the election, not necessarily with Repub primary voters but with non repubs.
I don’t even read mainstream news stories on Trump anymore. Incl Yahoo online, total crap bias.
One of the pastors at my church made fun of Trump’s hair from the pulpit and now I can’t stand to listen to him.
For a long time in America we’ve had this thing here you shouldn’t make fun of the handicapped. It is all part of the PC mentality.
According to Trump himself, he has something much faster and far more effective for dealing with this kind of stuff.
Twitter.
He uses those 140 characters to counter attack, making it possible for him to respond in minutes, he can brutalize them, belittle them, mock them.
And he gets to do all that in full view of all of us.
Thanks for posting that film clip. The reporter’s disability is so obvious with his small affected arm/hand permanently up in front of his chest. Just a casual look at him, one can’t miss it.
