A group of tea party activists is convinced that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has struck a secret deal with rival Sen. Ted Cruz to guarantee the Texan the vice presidential spot on the ticket, and conservatives are raving that it would be the best pairing since Harry Burnett Reese combined peanut butter and Hershey’s chocolate.
The Cruz campaign vehemently denied that there was an agreement to form the conservatives’ “dream ticket,” while the Trump campaign remained mum.
“There is no such secret deal,” said Cruz campaign national spokesman Rick Tyler.
Still, speculation about an arranged marriage of Mr. Trump’s self-styled conservative crusade and Mr. Cruz’s die-hard tea party convictions gained credibility last week when Mr. Trump broached the subject himself.

That would be the greatest impact that Cruz could have on this country. He shouldn't be 'wasted' as a powerless second fiddle VP.
Cruz supporters seem to really dislike this idea, so to show compassion, I say no to the notion/speculation.
Let Cruz continue his good work in the Senate.

Given his age?????????????????????
Trump shows far more energy than all the rest of the candidates no matter their age, including Cruz.
I get very tired of listening to people clap trap about someones age. Reagan had the perfect answer for that....he would not take advantage of the younger persons’s inexperience.
I hope you’re right.
I want Trump II for VP, not a politician.
You imagine the crowds Palin Trump would get. That would be huge.
Well, yeah.

Yep. Plus why would one want to have 12 years of Trump/Cruz instead of 16? Or only 4 if Cruz loses after one term of Trump which is very possible. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Cruz is not running to play second fiddle to Trump. Why would he end his career like that? Trumpees like to think it a perfect match but it isn’t in terms of the old appease some of the other part of the party with VP. Cruz had the mostly the same views as Trump but he doesn’t have Trump’s history of being all over the map. Cruz is steady as she goes and has been studying and practicing conservatism from an early age.
I honestly believe if Trump doesn’t implode Cruz will skillfully take him out. The media will probably even cover it.
If you look at the infamous Reuter’s rolling poll by probable GOP primary voters it is Trump 33%, Cruz 21%. Rubio at 11% or so in fourth place.
I was enjoying Trump driving everyone crazy but his whining may be worse than Bambi’s.
Just how I think about it and I am surely not an expert.
Love Cruz. Interested in Trump.
They seem to respect each other in terms of a similar goal.
I appreciate your perspective. Thanks.
FI Trump doesn’t select Cruz for VP—their are many other jobs he would be good for-—Attorney Generals sound good. How about Supream Court Justice? Even Secritary of State would be good.
This news is really gonna put CWs panties in a twist

Walker used to be my guy too but I got over it and got on with my life.
Cruz will be at the top of the ticket.
He’s got momentum, he’s the most conservative candidate in the field and by the SEC primaries he’ll be riding high.
As I’ve said before, Trump has what Cruz lacks (charisma to attract a wide swath of voters) and Cruz has what Trump lacks (a solid, researched, thought-out conservative position on practically any issue).
I don’t think VP would be a wasted position if Cruz were the VP. He’d be the one directing the administration’s position on any number of issues to see that legislation gets passed. Trump will become the front man and Cruz the brains behind the curtain.
Yes, they both will have to live with Trump’s off-script comments and ad-libber remarks but, the overall result will be exactly what this country needs if both are able to keep their egos in check and work together.
Trump says that smart businessmen hire smarter men to fill in the details of what they don’t know or haven’t thought out. Making Cruz the VP is doing exactly that in the political realm.
I totally agree with you.People claim Trump is no conservative yet he has been leading the polls since he got in the race.Cruz is awesome and the gope hates cruz and trump which makes them a ticket I really like.
Trump is raising a lot of topics that every sane person thinks but has been intimidated in to keeping quiet. I love that he doesn’t back down when the P.C. police attempt to twist his words and shame him in the press. People love him because he thumbs his nose at the media weenies.
But...
He will not be the nominee. His poll numbers will eventually go down as people realize he’s not a realistic presidential candidate. He’ll get cocky and sink himself. It’s already happening. In the primaries, people will get in the voting booth and know better than to vote for him.
Cruz will be on the top of whatever ticket goes into the general election.
“Conservative Dream ticket?” I’m not sure Trump is a conservative.
Cruz is unelectable, so this is the best scenario.
He clearly does need smart people around him. But why would the Republicans want a Joe Bidden type at the head of the ticket? What experience beyond demagoguery and demotics does Trump have that makes him the one to be at the top?
Yes it is. President of the Senate gets to sit next to the Speaker during Joint Sessions and gets to vote if there is a tie. That’s it.
