The surviving pilot of a Russian jet downed by Turkey has said there were no warnings before they were struck out of the sky, it's reported.
Captain Konstantin Murakhtin told a Russian TV station that his plane was flying over Syrian territory and did not violate Turkish airspace.
Speaking for the first time since the incident yesterday, the pilot said he knew the region like the back of his hand and "couldn't possibly have flown into Turkish airspace".

Somewhere in the Pentagon labyrinth there is a radar recording of the exact position of this aircraft at the time of the attack. There is also a voice recording of the warnings, if they were given at all, and time stamped as well............
Of course he would say that. The Russians never lie, do they?
And not even clear there was an over-flight at all. Try giving one warning in 17 seconds, let alone 10. I believe our sources heard 10, but that is just evidence of a premeditated shoot and a plan to cover it up through radio transmissions of bogus “warnings”. There are a lot of elderly people here whose minds are stuck in 1981. Obama/McCain/Neocons count on that element in the general public.
That is territory that Turkey gave of in a treaty signed with France in 1921. The claim isn’t internationally recognized, and the territory has been governed by Syria since the treaty.
Lost in all of this back and forth is the direction the plane was going. General Mcinerny touched on this yesterday. It was clear for all to see that the plane, even if in Turkish territory, was just going to scrape it briefly.
That’s a good question. Also at what range did the Turkish jet fire from. And time to target.
THANKSTAKING!!!
I made a funny...tee-hee tee-hee.
“Can’t imagine putting this guy on tv if he is.”
Right, because the Russians only lie when they’re not on TV. As soon as you turn on the cameras they become as honest as can be. Right.
Wasn’t there a story about the White Hut lying to us about how they were kicking ISIS’s butt.
Some people are back in the USSR.
No question the Russians were bushwhacked.
The question is why?
I suspect that Turkey makes and saves big bucks on oil from isis? The Russians are trying to end it, for a couple of reasons.
0bama, as they say, nudged the Turks in to it?
To push his agenda.
Russians lament glory days of their murderous Soviet empire tyranny.
From being serfs, then victims of the communism experiment, now to live free of want, I think they are proud to have survived as a people.
Russians are executing their plan to reconstitute a Soviet Union 2.0 by taking advantage of the wests' weakness.
Essentially what Joseph Goebels said to justify the Nazi invasion of the USSR.
Russian / Soviet - interchangeable for convenience and derogatory purposes
Morally, completely different.
Its a disgrace that we've deliberately lost moral authority..
Yes, across the board, we lost it to the Russians led by Putin.
Then you are severely imagination-deficient. The first thing a liar would do is put him on TV.
But hey, we all know you have a dog in this fight. But stop insulting the intelligence of the FReepers who know that both dogs are rabid...
If our country hadn’t been weakened by self loathing liberals we wouldn’t have anything to worry about with Russian. As far as I’m concerned, this country is being run by a lying communist and/or Muslim so I worry about my country more than Russia right now.
Who do you trust? Russians with a rich, vast, and glorious history of murder and lying or the Islamist’s of Turkey.
This ought to be good.
Yes, I believe it’s the oil.
Great... a NATO ally attacks a Russian jet.
If Turkey has proof it issued warnings it should release them
Listen to the audio (readily available on-line)..Turkish Air Force warns the Russian crew to turn south multiple times. Having said that, it’s clear the Turks were itching for a fight; the “incursion” by the SU-24 was momentary (at best).
Flight profile suggests the Fencer was on a recce mission, flying along the Turkish-Syrian border. Turkish calls were made in the official language of aviation (English), on the recognized “guard” frequency (243.0). Either the Russians weren’t monitoring guard, or they chose to ignore the warning.
exactly.
