The surviving pilot of a Russian jet downed by Turkey has said there were no warnings before they were struck out of the sky, it's reported.
Captain Konstantin Murakhtin told a Russian TV station that his plane was flying over Syrian territory and did not violate Turkish airspace.
Speaking for the first time since the incident yesterday, the pilot said he knew the region like the back of his hand and "couldn't possibly have flown into Turkish airspace".

In Pravda there is no news, in Izvestia there is no truth.
It is absolutely possible that the Russians were not monitoring the frequency the Turks were broadcasting on.
Word.
You mean they don’t talk Turkey?
......sorry.....me fingers are of weak moral character....
Worse, Turkey claims their airspace extends several miles into Syria, a claim which Russia does not recognize and which doesn’t follow the generally-understood definition of where a country’s airspace ends.
I wonder if they celebrate Thanksgiving in Russia. If so, it’s just about time to cook the Turkey.
And you can depend on the U.S. media for twice as much!
Yesterday our military agreed that the Russians got warnings before being shot at, not to mention Turkey had been warning them for weeks to knock it off. Both sides were in the wrong.
Someone is cooking with gas in Ankara right now
Yesterday the media was saying that both air crew members where shot and killed while parachuting into hostile territory in northern Syria.
No warning...
Just like 9/11.
If a Muslim’s lips are moving it’s lying.
I thought there was a common, universal freq that all pilots monitor for other aircraft.
It’ll be interesting when/if the US releases the audio tapes of the multiple warnings being given.
There is the guard channel (243.000 MHz) which is supposed to be for emergencies but I heard many years ago that the Soviets purposefully designed their radios not to monitor it so they couldn’t defect.
Perhaps the language barrier was at fault, the Russians were listening to rap music, the batteries in their portable radios failed, who knows, there could have been hundreds of reason.
The Soviet Union is a quarter century dead. That the Turks set out to murder the pilots is looking more and more probable as the evidence comes out.
Note that the jabbering chimps in the American News Cartel have not asked the simple question of whether the Turk plane violated Syrian air space.
This guy is a Russian soldier, not a member of Obama’s cabinet.
