Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Saturday called for Republicans to abandon the corrupting influence of the Koch brothers and other wealthy energy magnates.
"This is a party that rejects science and refuses to understand that climate change is real," he said of GOP during the annual Blue Jamboree in North Charleston, S.C.
"I understand if you stand up to the Koch brothers and the fossil fuel industry, that you'll lose your campaign contributions," the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate added.
"[Climate change] is already causing devastating problems all over this world. To hell with the fossil fuel industry. Worry more about your children and your grandchildren than your campaign contributions."
Sanders linked wealthy energy interests with overall corporate power, arguing that Wall Street must improve society.
"When Wall Street went broke, they came begging to Congress for help. Now it's Wall Street's turn to bail out the middle class of this country," he said.
"While people are working so hard, what is going on all is that almost all of the income and wealth that is being created is going to the top 1 percent," Sanders continued. "That is not what America is about."
The Koch brothers' vast donor network spent $129 million during the 2014 election cycle, according to an IRS filing released Tuesday.
That amount is more than five times the $22.3 million David and Charles Koch spent in 2013, the IRS filing said.
The siblings' political network has previously committed $889 million towards conservative and libertarian principles during the 2016 presidential election.
Charles Koch has suggested about $250 million of that amount is for defeating Democrats during next year's White House and Congressional races.
Sanders has long decried the influence the Kochs and other energy moguls play in working against tackling climate change.
"When you have people like the Koch brothers and ExxonMobil today spending huge amounts of money trying to deny that reality, it slows up the entire world from aggressively addressing what is an international crisis," he said late last month. "This is serious stuff."
Where does Bernie think this society would be without fossil fuel energy? Does he really think that fossil fuels don't benefit society? Maybe he can keep warm with a wood stove in Vermont, but that's not a practical solution for the rest of the world, especially the warmer parts. I don't know of a wood-fired air conditioner.
I’m glad someone finally mentions Soros!
So, note how ole’ Bernie criticizes the Koch Brothers, and then “The Hill” takes that ball and runs with it, telling the readers how much money the Koch Bros spend on the Republicans and how much they’ll spend next year.
What they don’t say, however...
How much does Soros spend? How about Facebook’s Zuckerburg, Amazon’s Bezos, or Google’s Page and Brin, or their CEO Schmidt?
And what about Hollywood; Spielberg, Hanks, Streisand, Cameron, Paltrow, Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin and Danny Glover, just to name a few of thousands?
What about all those Wall Street execs giving generously to the Clinton Foundation?
What about the Unions, who give even more than the Koch Bros every year, plus bussed-in goons and manpower?
What The Hill and the media won’t tell you, is that the democrats get billions from the Super Rich, and the propaganda mills and foundations, from the environmental whackos like the Sierra Club, PETA, Green Peace to Planned Parenthood and La Raza get billions more.
Speaking of fossels. To hell with Bernie Sanders.
Not a bad statement from someone from Vermont, where people heat with natural gas , electic (five times the price of gas), propane (fossil),or wood (carbon) !
But the EPA has already declared war on wood stoves because of air polution and carbon
Vermont has "0" nuclear power plants.
So , Cicero , as Hannibal once did, to prevent getting cold , you might have to go buy an elephant so that you can hug it to stay warm .
Just don't go to neighboring states to buy food / fuel for your elephant(!), and all the "Greenies" will have already turned into human popsicles,
and there goes your voting base ( unless you allow the dead to vote !, ...again ).
Bernie’s job is to make the Former Twelfth Lady look reasonable, moderate and sane by comparison.Rat Party Headquarters has either promised him something...or threatened him.
Maxine you stupid bitch.
You have confused "Fossil Fuel", with "FOSSIL FOOL" .
A typical error if you don't have spell chucker !
What about a world without Sanders? What would we have to give up then?
Vermonters are odd. Killing that nuclear power plant was insane. But they aren’t about to give up their wood stoves, carbon or not. You can see smoke streaming out of every chimney, ours included.
And Vermonters aren’t about to give up their guns, either.
There used to be two conservatives in our small town a few years ago, but one of them died. So I’m the only one left.
Still, they are sensible in some respects. We chainsaw and split up our firewood for the wood stove, and burn as little fuel oil as possible.
Thackney, Bernie doesn't get that his shoes, clothing etc and almost all the products he buys has some oil in it, much of which have been made better by the Koch brothers. Can you see the dripping disdain for them and they fact they are illogically opposed to him? and they call us haters.
Yes they want us in the dark ages or worse, I think they want us clothed in burlap bags, living in mud yurts, eating twigs and berries.
Spoken like a true communist.
Spoken like your typical Democrat.
And no hydroelectric.
Remember, the EcoFascists want to tear down the nation’s major dams.
Once these Communists take away our fossil fuels, mankind will regress back to primitive society. The rulers will control their subjects like slaves. People like Bernie Sanders will have them building pyramids again.
FUBS!
To HELL with Bernie Sanders !
"Socialism is a social and economic system characterized by social ownership and democratic control of the means of production". Bernie doesn't realize that we don't need him to promote Socialism, Socialism is already here - bigtime. When we go to single payer, it will just be the icing on the cake.
If anyone believes that we are not a socialist nation condider:
Welfare, Food-stamps, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, soon coming single payer health care, gov housing, gov schools, Obama-phone, gov subsidized (milk, sugar, oil, farms, mass transit..........).
Here's a list of a few companies (corporate welfare) and their gov subsidies:
1. Boeing: $13,174,075,797 2. General Motors: $3,494,237,703 3. Royal Dutch Shell: $2,038,202,298 4. Dow Chemical: $1,408,228,374 5. Goldman Sachs: $661,979,222 6. Google: $632,044,922 7. Walt Disney: $381,525,727 8. Wal-Mart Stores: $149,942,595 9. Abercrombie and Fitch: $23,070,479 10. Bed Bath & Beyond: $10,385,041
The middle class in this nation has been robbed by both parties, who steal from taxpayers to give to their core constituents. The answer is not to continue robbing Peter to pay Paul because someone is always stuck being Peter.
We need a real revolution in this nation, which brings us back to our founding principals. Unfortunately, there are few instances in history where an oppressed people do not resort to bloody uprising to throw off the shackles of their oppressors.
Turn off the fuel to his home immediately...let the commie freeze.
I can say the same to this communist
Your neighboring State motto is :" Live FREE ,.. or die ". My fishing buddy says he has put up 6 cord of wood for winter (not the 'wimpy' face cords), and has oil backup for when he isn't home,
and lives out of his productive garden in the summer, winter , and early spring. First, he had to battle the wild critters, and then drought, and then the harvest .
The last time I was there, after visiting his garden briefly, my son found next morning 4 ticks on me (Lyme disease). I think they help make NE folks hardier.
It seems that the New England folks are resolute in independence, and sometimes awkward stubborness - thank goodness !
Hang in there , straight shooter !
