In the Republican primary race, the newest NBC News/SurveyMonkey online poll shows Donald Trump has the frontrunner spot to himself, with 28% support among Republican and independent voters who lean Republican. Support for Ben Carson, who was tied with Trump in last month's online poll, has fallen off by 8 points and the former neurosurgeon is now tied with Ted Cruz at 18%. Trailing not too far behind is Marco Rubio, at 11%. The next tier of candidates has a lot of catching up to do, with Jeb Bush at 4% and Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina each with 3%.

Trump v Cruz. RNC HQ. Someone had to monitor for someone bringing in cyanide and strawberry koolaid
So it will be the liberal Trump/Pelosi versus the conservative Cruz/Rubio?
We will either have Trump-care or freedom.
Time for the Libs to go back to the DU.

Rubio is still double digits. Trump has someone else to focus on.
Don't we look good together!
I thought Trump was 40 plus and Cruz was mired at 4......./s
Me too. This is the first poll that I have seen that fits with my sense of how the race is actually going.
I'm not a member of the "Trump will eventually fade" crowd but I have always include Carson in that group. There's nothing but emotion holding him up right now. For some reason people just like this guy. But he just doesn't have the depth of knowledge of the issues that it takes to respond to reporter's questions. It is inevitable that the 'gotcha' questions and his answers will pile up and overwhelm him. I think we are starting to see that.
Cruz, OTOH, is immune to 'gotcha' question. You just can't get him. Way too smart. A deep thinker and a knowledge bank second to none.
And Trump, the leader, holds the Strong Man Card. Nobody is going to take that away from him. His only weak point is that he cannot compete with Cruz in the Depth of Knowledge Race. Trump is no walking Wiki and Cruz is.
Interesting times. I do hope it comes down to Trump vs. Cruz with everyone else falling by the wayside.
Ay, caramba!
Live by the polls by the polls.
Rump Roid goosestepper is the worst possible choice, he should have run in his party.
They tried, they really tried, they got up to bat and tried but the truth has buried their lies. Their nomination for the Wile E. Coyote Frustration Award has been withdrawn.

Those candidates have a detante.
The problem is that many of the old Scott Walker people moved over to Cruz and brought their pervious vitriol against Trump with them and ignited the current flame war.
I do, too!
There must be some mistake: Senator Linda just said that Trump was an “idiot.” Surely he wouldn’t be first with the good, non-idiotic Senator so far behind he did not make the graphic...
YES. Spot on, friend.
As Carson continues to slide, there could be a real danger in the GOPe consolidating behind Rubio, while Trump and Cruz split the rest of the vote.
Our only real hope IMO is for Trump to be strong enough in the early votes to more or less run away with it.
The more people learn about Cruz the more they LIKE him.
