Donald Trump is looking increasingly likely to win the Republican nomination in 2016 â and it may not even be close.
Four months after being widely dismissed as a celebrity candidate who would wither under scrutiny, Trump isnât just defying political gravity. Heâs powering past it as he expands his leads in both national polls and critical early voting states.
A new Reuters poll conducted mostly after the November 13 attacks in Paris found Trump with more than double the support of his nearest rival nationally, taking 36 percent of Republican primary voters to Ben Carsonâs 14.6 percent. A Morning Consult poll released Tuesday showed the billionaire with an even loftier lead, polling 38 percent to Carsonâs 19 percent as Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz languished in the single digits.
A University of Massachusetts survey released Monday shows a closer contest â but Donald Trump still manages to outpoll the fading Ben Carson by nine points.

You’re right about zero experience in politics.. the rest of what you say is bunk...
Thanks for Making me aware of Trump’s motivation and intentions. That dastardly dude.
At your service.
And how, pray tell, does that equate into support for socialized medicine?
Maybe when his actual policy paper comes out, I’ll accept that argument. But good for you on bringing up his recent statements.
As it is, I still support him. If single-payer comes up as an issue, I’ll fight every step of the way against it. But I still support Trump, because he’s the only candidate with the ability (and without the ties to the big donors) to do what needs to be done on national security and on the border. Much as I like Cruz, I don’t think that he would be able to get the job done on that, and none of the other candidates would even try.
And the border and national security are THE most important issues of this campaign, period. Fullstop. Because if these issues aren’t taken care of, then we WILL get stuck with craptastic socialized medicine once the Ds import enough gimmie voters instead of just the maybe that a Trump administration would bring.
You know that’s a nice try...
The first article you posted is just Trump saying he “liked” Reagan.
But it takes more than Trump saying that he liked Ronald Reagan now that he is running for the republican nomination for me to believe him.
What did Trump say in the past???
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/04/19/159541/donald-trump-ronald-reagan-con-man/
Reagan was a con man!
I think that was from the “Art of the Deal”
As for the second two articles you posted, those are articles written to possibly show how Trump and Reagan could be similar. Some of those reasons just talk about them being outsiders and not liked by the establishment.
They do not show any evidence Trump supported Reagan.
I’m sure many of the posters here could give you as many or more reasons Trump and Reagan were not similar.
Just a couple...
1. Reagan would have never said single payer health care “worked”.
2. Reagan never would have been a cheerleader for Obama.
Michael Medved knows lots of things but he has been on a prolonged and protracted anti-Trump rant for weeks now. He is obsessed with Trump and can't let go. Every show, day after day. This prediction is mere expression of wish fulfillment on his part.
I know! I’ve only been listening to him because I swear Sean is taking medication which makes him screech into the microphone so that my heart start beating horribly. Sean is not a happy man these days, I suspect. (Home problems, Sean???)
You're right. Whenever anyone calls in supporting Trump, Bennett turns into a surly scowly old woman. Ridiculous really.
The RINO pundits are desperate to find a Trump killer. Bush is not working out, Rubio is not overtaking Trump, Fiorino has fizzled, Kasich has dropped, Christie is relegated to kiddie debate! So who is next? Paul Ryan! Next will be Mitt Romney! If that does not work out, they might even try McQueeg.
The Cruz supporters are showing much more desperation than Ted Cruz himself. I have not seen any attacks from Cruz on Trump, actually just the opposite. Cruz has come to Trump’s defense during debates, when Trump is attacked by other candidates. But GeronL has gone postal on Trump. Why?
That’s the beauty of this, the GOPe kills itself off doing that and will still lose.
I have way too many friends and beloved family who are Trump supporters to insult a Trump supporter just for preferring the guy, or to suggest that someone who objects to Cruz has "CDS" and is in need of "medication."
All I do on these threads is to point out certain truths and facts about Trump that should be remembered, faced, and considered if we want to make the smartest choice for America.
Have you criticized any Trump antagonists who simply post ^Trump is a democrat^ or ^Trump is a liberal^ etc one liners, without providing any evidence?
At that point, you can forget Reagan, forget all conservative agenda, forget any national election victories for conservative candidates or even just plain vanilla republicans.
And who is the only ONE candidate using the words ^DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS FIRST^? Correct, the only one who is self-financed.
Whether Trump was or was not for Reagan 35 years ago has no relevancy today. But this photo clearly shows mutual respect and admiration between president Reagan and businessman Donald Trump.
Bumping and thanks for compiling this list.
Really? That Trump doesn't have "a documentable history of leaning leftward moderate"?
On May 4, he was accusing Pam Geller (of "Draw the Mohammed" contest fame) of 'taunting' Muslims, saying:
"And, you know, I'm one that believes in free speech, probably more than she does. But what's the purpose of this? She's taunting them -- she's probably, it's very risky for her; I don't know, maybe she likes risk. But what the hell is she doing, and what is the purpose of it?"
Just today, Trump was asked if he supported tax subsidies for windfarms. He said he's all for them and understands why they're needed for a struggling industry.
Then what explains Trump's outspoken Twitters in 2012 strongly criticizing windfarms, rightly complaining about their ugliness and inefficiency to the fact that they kill birds? (Never a mention of how government has zero place in meddling with the marketplace as a reason objecting to the subsidies, or that they're being pushed in the first place as a result of "global warming" nonsense) ...
He's a businessman. Read the link.
On Nov. 13 (last week), in Iowa, someone asked, "Mr. Trump: what do you think about ethanol?" His answer: "I love it, I'm for it."
And what about the concept of Obamacare, essentially the Federal government making requirements of individuals with regard to health insurance and medical care? Here he is in late September, declaring of his promise to repeal Obamacare and REPLACE it with something "really terrific" --
"This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, "No, no, the lower 25 percent that can't afford private. But .... I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now.... the government's gonna pay for it. But we're going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most it's going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything."
I hate to break it to you, nikos and all my Trump loving FRiends, but the handwriting is on the wall.
He is a moderate for all his aggressive talk and patriotism. He sees government done his way as the solution.
Cruz sees drastically reduced government as the solution. I'll go with voting for that. I'm willing to own it.
Trump was actually good looking during Reagan era! Oh well, age takes it’s toll on all of us.
The most relevant issue in 2016 is from my post # 194.
Nothing else will matter if drastic steps are not taken by president-elect of 2016.
Ignore them. They are just pissed off and sour grapes because Cruz is still not taking off. Vote for who you want to vote for and they can do the same.
Honestly, every thread ends up with frustrated sourpuss discussions between Cruz fans championing how great they are as opposed to all other people.
There are many more people determining candidate support that don’t post on the internet. The Cruzers can take their honey and go vent at all of them.
