Their huddle over a coffee table in Antalya, Turkey, on Sunday came after the extremist group claimed responsibility for Friday's horrific coordinated attacks in Paris that left 129 people dead and hundreds injured.

The two leaders chatted in a foursome with Obama's national security adviser Susan Rice and a Russian aide.

Their meeting was visible on a television feed provided by the summit's host country, but their conversation couldn't be heard.

The White House says the 35-minute meeting centered on talks to end Syria's civil war and that the two leaders agreed that the country needs a political transition led by Syrians. The transition would be preceded by negotiations mediated by the United Nations and a cease-fire.

The two leaders also discussed the conflict in Ukraine and that Obama expressed condolences

Putin speaks only a tad of English so this 30 minutes is actually 10 minutes since it has to be translated in between sentences.

I went back and looked at the photo again. Look where Obama's head and hands are in relation to that little table. Then look at Putin's position related to the table.

That was my logic, but look where the table is. It's a lot closer to Obama's chair. 1RudeBoy might be right here.

I don't believe Obama is in as subservient a position as I had first thought.

Obama seems to be leaning over the table to hear Putin’s orders better, Putin seems in control because he has not modulated his voice so that Barry can hear him easily. Power move IMHO.

Notice who is staying on his side, and who is acting like the child straining to hear. Obama is almost half-way to Putin and Putin is just sitting there. If Obama isn't bowing, he's continually finding a new way to look inferior, or at best the subserviant pose to the alpha dog. Our CIC should hold his own in these exchanges, and Obama hasn't a clue how to. And further, 30 minutes? What can you resolve in 30 minutes, and these two have a lot to talk about?

I noticed that too, but I think the body language answers your question about the topic of discussion - Putin is warning Obama to stay out of his way. I think Putin is about to go medieval on ISIS, and he knows damn well Obama is a Muslim and an ISIS enabler. So he's telling him, "Game on, stay out of my way or I'll make life hell for you. Don't try to undermine me in this." And I'd guess Putin requested Rice (or someone of adequate competency) be there, because he knows Rice will get the message even if Obama doesn't. It's also noticeable that the Muslim Jarrett isn't there - she's afraid of Putin, and she knows damn well he doesn't like her.

I think the location of the table threw you off. It clearly is closer to Obama than Putin.

That could very well be. I will say that I recanted my earlier opinion about inferior position because I noticed the table was much closer to OBama and it skewed my impression. I was wrong. You may have picked up some other body language I missed, so I'm not saying he didn't take the inferior position. I just don't think it's quite so obvious.
