It took longer than almost anybody expected, but on Thursday night, it looked as though the wheels were finally starting to come off Donald Trumpâs run for the presidency. Itâs too early to write his political obituary just yet â heâs shown remarkable resilience in the face of ridicule and disdain â but even Trump will have trouble recovering from a day in which he repeatedly compared his chief rival to a âchild molesterâ and invited attendees at a campaign event to bring a knife up on stage and try to stab him.
Trump has been aggressively attacking retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who has pulled even with him in national opinion polls of Republican primary voters. Last weekend, Trumpâs attacks became more pointed, and he latched on to a line from Carsonâs book, Gifted Hands, in which Carson described his childhood temper as âpathological.â

“Trump looked tired and sounded a little flat. He needs to go home and take 2 days off and rest. But I hear he has some deal going on Sat. Trump is 69 years old. Its not going to do anybody any good if he keels over.”
He says he only sleeps 2-3 hours a night. He is a walking time bomb with his body and his mouth.
As I said, Ben Carson's candidacy is a walking punchline. There are ways to easily help his campaign along its path to implosion without acting like a grade schooler throwing a fit.
Ed, isn’t it the case that Trump was making an analogy about pathological liars and said, “Like a pedophile”, as an example? He didn’t say he was a pedophile or anything like that. He simply made a statement about pathological liars.
You said about Trump: “He rambles all over the place when he speaks ...Trump can drift off into nut-job territory at times ...”
I just posted he says he sleeps 2-3 hours at night. That is not enough time for his brain to reset itself and the body to repair itself. I believe that is why he rambles and his speech is limited to third grade words - speech pathologists have rated his speech, along with the other candidates.
*The real casualty here is that NONE OF THE MEDIA seem to want to talk about policy, but about personalities and biographies *
Talk of policy doesn’t get reported by the media unless it can be distorted into some ‘progressive’ meme.
I wish Cruz recognized the media we have as well as Trump does.
I’m afraid you’re right, which is why we’ve heard a lot more about Ben Carson’s knife-wielding days than we’ve heard about Ted Cruz’s proposal to return us to the gold standard.
Carson today:
While speaking to reporters in South Carolina Friday, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson denied that Donald Trump called him a child molester. He added that people in the press had twisted the billionaire real estate mogul’s words.
Moral equivalency is moral bankruptcy.
Trying to kill your mother > saying something...saying anything, really.
If I could only choose one person to spend my time with there is literally nothing anyone could *say* that would make me choose an attempted mother murderer over them.
Too bad you establishment types didn’t fight the Dems as hard as you’re trying (and failing) to fight Trump.
You’ve had your chance...you’ve had decades. Now it’s ours. Step back and let us work. We want a fighter, we want to fight.
As opposed to any of the other con artists running.
Everybody else running is either a career politician or attempted to murder their mom.
I’m not sure which of the two is worse.
Yes, we need to continue being demure and proper little conservatives. Take the high road while millions of our enemies zip right by us on the low road setting up roadblocks and ambushes ahead of us.
There is no need for all this anger.
We’re tired of milquetoast politicians. You sit back and behave, you’ve probably been doing it for 50+ years. And what a great situation we all find ourselves in.

Go drink a hot toddy and talk about class with the other millionaires, Mr. Howell.
We’re worried about the survival the country.
I don’t care if the guy drags his pecker in the punch and wears white after Labor Day if he’s going to lead us in the right direction.
At least you guys look good while selling the country out. Mmmm, yeees.
The problem with Ben Carson is neither his alleged violent past nor the possibility that he's telling tall tales about it. The problem is that he's without the first clue on most points of policy, and in the rare cases where he says something concrete, he sounds like Jeb Bush with some Seventh Day Adventist theo-babble mixed in.
I do NOT like Ted’s support for TPP, nor his pro immigrant stance.
May I have your permission to share your comments on those same FB and other sites — WITHOUT identifying you, of course?
Can you imagine....having to watch and listen to his speeches 24/7 for four years? A perpetually angry white guy is not what America wants or needs in a leader.
Add to that my suspicion, still, that his real job is to further divide the GOP and make them look like the fools that the RINOs have proven them to be.....
Go Cruz!!!!
And just what are your fundamentals of the constitution? I think trump is the strongest defender of our SOVEREIGNTY, and that, in essence, is what the Constitution is all ABOUT.
Well Carson’s support has always been soft. Only 29% of his supporters say they have made up their minds. Also the largest segment of Carson supporters list Trump as choice #2. I doubt that will change substantially because of one speech that Donald Trump gave on the stump.
My guess is that Trump knows something is about to drop on Carson like the love child story or whatever and he will be vindicated.

The whole thing on Carson. Judge for yourself. It didn’t turn me off a bit.
Laz doesn’t do sarcasm. Never has. He’s a really serious dude.
You, and a lot of other people "don't get it."
I watched the entire speech. last night "live" online.
He is doing the very same thing he he did as the star of his own show the "Apprentice", which ran through 12 seasons with top ratings, and was being renewed by NBC for a 13th season, when Trump declined.
In that show he connected to people and his audience when he would explain his reasoning for "firing" or keeping the different contender candidates that participated.
Following that logic.. I watched him talk and ramble for 85 minutes last night and I could feel the "connective moments" when they occurred.
My Point: You DO NOT stay SUCCESSFULLY on Network Television for 12 successive years unless you continue to CONNECT with your audience.
It may see strange to you.. but that's what is occurring.
