Sen. Rand Paul had his best night in Tuesday's Republican primary debate, but it won't be enough to alter his fortunes, Charles Krauthammer said tonight on Fox News's Special Report.
"I give him points for courage and candor," Krauthammer said. "I mean his sort of isolationism is not a popular strain, but he went with it."
Nonetheless, "I don't think anybody really changes his or her fortunes."Instead, he predicted how things will shake out from here: "If you look at the stage, you saw the two wings, you had Rand Paul and you had Kasich, who you could just see falling through a trap door. And then you have Carly Fiorina and Jeb, who I think are also rather tentative."
"And then you look in the center and you saw the final four," he continued. Meaning, Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio.
“Little boy?” “Irrational drivel?”
Apparently you’ve nothing to cogently counter my argument.
Ha ha—though I’m not so sure I’d trust Christie with the DOJ.
Thank you Karl Rove, for that public service announcement (laugh-choke-barf).
Yeah, but can the GOPe prop him up long enough to help split the conservative vote?
Reagan was paraphrasing Truman: Given a choice between a Republican and a Republican the voters will pick a Republican every time.
Krauthammer is a Mondale Democrat who
supported Obama and ObamaCARE, as
he covered up Obama’s sociopathy and
systematic lying.
Does that make him a conservative?
I think not.
There will be a major Establishment candidate and I expect that to be Rubio—so I think we’ve yet to see anything near his peak.
Check Trump’s RECORD. He is a Liberal.
Stupid and transparent.
Add up the poll #’s for the gOpE (Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Christie). The other non-outsider (Huck, Santorum, Paul, Jindal ...) votes will mostly go to an outsider not the gOpE. Rubio has very limited upside.
IMO a lot of the Carson vote will break for Rubio.
They’re the low-fo, “seems like a nice man”, voters.
Also, “outsider”, as opposed to conservative, voters are less likely to show up at the polls than more ideological voters.
Gee, what a wizard.
Careful what you wish for.
I personally would prefer for Jeb to stay in until AFTER Florida.
It’s important Jeb continue to split the RINO vote until Florida which is winner take all is over.
I am shocked Carson is still polling above single digits.
He’d prosecute Hillary. Good enough for me.
Good prediction about Carson, except Rubio is likely to find himself buoyed by the GOP-elite with good press and the low-information-Republican-voters.
The next step, if that’s the final three, Cruz (or Trump) may find himself dividing the anti-GOP-elite, and that will be interesting.
Exactly (though I’m not sure how much of the vote he’ll have to split).
I’m betting Trump is negotiating with the other 3 to make the next debates just that. The four of them can dictate terms, and it’s in their best interests to have 4 man debates.
Krauthammer is just trying to save face.
He was in the Jeb and Walker camps and both imploded.
