As many of you know, many months ago I sensed that Donald Trump might be a political force, and I began working on a book about the campaign, mostly focused on Trump. If indeed he continues to lead and wins the nomination (let alone the election), I'll be ready to go to a publisher.
The point is, I try to follow Trump-related stuff closely, both pro- and anti-. Last night I sensed a new strategy in dealing with Trump: Ignore him. Now, it's true that he got a lot of air time. By one account he still barely led Rubio, Cruz, and Kasich. But judging by Freeper comments there was a level of surprise that they seemed to be freezing him out as much as they did Cruz in the first debate.
I thought little of this until watching "The Five" tonight. Admittedly, except for (sometimes) Eric Bolling, "The Five" are notorious Trump haters. Dana Perrino and Greg Guttfeld especially are obvious in their hostility. Often (unfortunately) Juan Williams is one of the few actually pointing out what is happening in Trump's rallies and his continued lead in the polls.
So, I expected more vitriol tonight, except . . . . nothing. I tuned in about 10 minutes into the show. Perhaps all they did prior to that time was talk Trump, but from that point on, they didn't even mention his name. I don't think it came up, even in passing or by comparison, once. According to "The Five," Jindal was good, Christie was "presidential," Bush was good, Rubio was great, Paul made good points, even Carson was good. . . . but not a word about Trump.
We'll see if this continues, or, perhaps, if it's only on Fox. But I sense the new strategy at least on Fox is to pretend The Donald is the invisible man.
I saw it. He mostly argued with O’bigmouth over Trump’s deportation plans. Bill tried to get him to pick on Cruz but Trump didn’t bite.
Trump was on Levin’s show today too.
Thank you for posting that, as I would have missed it!
I LOVE those ladies! If you have a Diamond & Silk ping list, may I be on it, please?
:-)
It can’t work. Trump would be frozen at an unbeatable percent of the vote if they don’t give him a chance to go up against other candidates. The bigger problem they have is Trump is incredibly effective at using social media where he is completely unchallenged. Ignoring him gives him free reign in an environment he already controls. The opposition is screwed...
So much “happy”...
A book like this would fill the hole left by the late Theodore White. I had lunch with a former history professor and author of books on the national parks (one of co-author Mike Allen's good friends) a few weeks ago in Seattle, and he was horrified that so much of our pre-Civil War history is not taught anymore.
Are you using your usual agent for your new book? Billthedrill and I have our book ready to go, and we're looking for an agent that could represent a book on the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers that analyzes them via a conservative prism, rather than the usual Marxist prism.
I don’t really have a Diamond and Silk list. I just ping a few others to Trump threads. Someone usually posts Diamond and Silk’s new things though.
I will be glad to add you.
Diamond and Silk were there at the debate? OMG!! I wonder if people recognized them? I think Diamond could be disguised, but I’m not so sure Silk could be.
I didn’t watch the whole thing. Did they call out Kasich? I hope so.
Rubio is a brat, that’s exactly what he is.
And Rand Paul is his brat daddy.
You are welcome to try Roger Williams at New England Publishing (roger@nepagency.com
Thank you very much. We appreciate any help we can get from a successful author and historian.
Murdock’s girl friend Me-Gyn on now and looks like she’s avoiding Trump. LoLoL.
Oh she’s got on a panel of puppets. One person raises hand it for Trump about who won. Most raise hands it for RUBIO. Haha. She almost couldn’t say “Trump” by name Haha...
“I noticed on most of the thread here on FR after the latest debate that TRUMP was barely mentioned in the source articles.”
So it is a new strategy by the mediots controlled by the Elites.
The old try and throw everything against the wall routine to see what crap works. Nothing else has. Haha...
For now, they are ignoring him and not throwing the fecal matter at our computers.
"No one start talkin' about immigration until Donald Trump start talkin' bout it. No one start talkin' about jobs until Donald Trump start talkin' bout jobs. They have no substance! They was cheatin' offa Donald Trump's sheet, baby!"
It would seem that way. Probably something they coordinate through a TWITTER FEED.
Yes they are. They even set up a web page with instructions for how to change your voter registration from democrat to republican with each state’s requirements listed.
I wish there was a way to know how much of an effect they are having.
Yes...he was! I listened to Trump’s interview with Mark. Nothing much, new. Mark asked Trump about Carson. I was wondering how that would go, with Mark’s, um, overwhelming support for Carson, last week.
Mark touched on Carson, but they quickly moved on to other things.
Trump’s interview with O’Reilly, tonight....
(BOR was pompous, as usual.)

Just watched Hannity interviewing Ted Cruz. Hannity asked what are you going to do about the illegals. Cruz said we must secure the border and build 700 mile long double fence, we must deal 1 step at a time. And he is against comprehensive immigration reform...but cleverly skated around the deportation issue.
Cruz dos not use the words [DEPORT ILLEGALS] anywhere on his web-site Tedcruz.org. Unless he does that, he is never going to be at the top of my preference list. He is being controlled by his rich donors, just like the others.
