The president of the University of Missouri system resigned Monday amid criticism of his handling of student complaints about race and discrimination.
President Tim Wolfe said Monday that his resignation is effective immediately. The announcement came at a special meeting of the university system's governing body, the Board of Curators.
The complaints came to a head over the weekend when at least 30 black football players announced they would not participate in team activities until Wolfe was removed or stepped down.
For months, black student groups have complained of racial slurs and other slights on the overwhelmingly white flagship campus of the state's four-college system. Frustrations flared during a homecoming parade Oct. 10 when black protesters blocked Wolfe's car, and he did not get out and talk to them. They were removed by police.
Black members of the football team joined the outcry on Saturday night. By Sunday, a campus sit-in had grown in size, graduate student groups planned walkouts and politicians began to weigh in.

The reality is that they are there to perform, showcase their skills and earn money for the university... It would announce that collegiate football is being discontinued and the athletes are free to transfer elsewhere...
If the situation is such as you’ve stated, that money for the school is the primary driver of athletics, then the sensible thing for them to do is just what they did do, force the prexy out...why would they make a conscious decision to visit fiscal havoc on the institution...?

If this keeps up, there will be a resurgence in the use of “The N Word”, even among polite people of all races.
For normal humans “of the darker persuasion”, the terms “Negro”, “Colored”, “Black” and “African-American” will remain polite, acceptable descriptors.
However, “the N Word” is needed to describe folks like this. It may be modified to fit the individuals buy adding the appropriate adjective, such as “White”, “Black”, “Hispanic”, “Gringo”, “Oriental”, etc.

Well said. I would add that as athletes they are well compensated. With many athlete privledges and protections other students are not afforded. As well as all the free clothing, nutritional, and health care others students cannot access. So, who is more priveledged?
This is just the beginning. The more you concede to these cretins, the more they will demand. This will spread to other campuses.
Will any parents who strive to raise decent well-adjusted children allow them to go to the University of Missouri any more? I wouldn’t.

Agreed, with a twist. The Board is now able to bring in a hard-ass to deal with what should be regarded on one hand as childish misbehavior and on the other as breach of contract; they concluded Wolfe didn't fill the role.
I know the odds are probably against it but I am an optimist.

The 1960's 'student activists, protestors did discern that school administrators, board of regents backed down so readily that it simply emboldened the protestors to demand even more.
Same as the 1980's 1990's feminists and politically correct thinking and now the current homosexual agenda marching onwards with more demands.
