(CNN)Black football players at the University of Missouri have joined calls demanding the ouster of the president of the state's four-campus university system over alleged inaction against racism on campus.
About 30 players made their thoughts known Saturday night in a tweet posted by Missouri's Legion of Black Collegians.
"The athletes of color on the University of Missouri football team truly believe "Injustice Anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere," read the tweet. "We will no longer participate in any football related activities until President Tim Wolfe resigns or is removed due to his negligence toward marginalized students' experience."
The players' move is the latest salvo in a spiraling debate over the experiences of African-American students at Missouri, who have complained of inaction on the part of school leaders in dealing with racism on the overwhelmingly white campus.

Yep Gonna happen Monday following Board of Curators meeting
If blacks don’t like majority white schools, why don’t they just go to the black colleges. You don’t see whites going to black colleges and then crying about racism and demanding that the president be white. Let them sit it out. It only hurts their futures with the NFL which is what they all want to do.
A white guy was Valedictorian of Morehouse College about 5 years ago, and there were quite a few people there who thought that shouldn’t be allowed.
Arkansas was a stretch BTW. The SEC didn’t need it.
The Big 8 blew up and had no money left. Go figure
No problem. They win by forfeit.
This is the same football program that produced the “fabulous” Michael Sam.
‘Nuff said.
Any Conservative Republicans running for the spot?
It is kind of fun to watch liberal academic types get eaten by liberal black racist students.
“So sit out already. My care meter has not moved one Angstrom...”
Or even a tenth of a nanometer.
Black football players at Missouri: We’re Racists
Academic vigilance may be a way to end the troubles.
Start yanking scholarships.
Then they win their attempt to strong-arm others into catering specifically to them.
I'd take a page out of Reagan's Air Traffic Controller deal and let them go - if on scholarship for football, rescind the scholarship. The rest just get booted from the team with no hope of getting a position next year.
Of those players attending on an athletic scholarship, pull it if they refuse to particular sport their scholarship was awarded in.
After all, an athletic scholarship is a quid pro quo matter. If the game in Arrowhead this weekend is cancelled, I’d scrub the rest of the season, pull the scholarships and tell the coach and his staff to get his butt back to work on recruiting new players and getting the team ready for the 2016 season.
Don’t know if the legislature should be funding Mizzou’s losing season. After all, they have to worry about getting a new open-air stadium built in St. Louis (where it snows in the winter), a city which will have NO football team to play in the new digs.
Based on their record just not very good. But as to signing juco students in the middle of a season I believe the NCAA would not allow that. No, the Missouri team would forfit every game for the rest of the year, forego the revenue from that plus have to pay a penalty in the millions to the opposing team for each game, and likely lose their place in the SEC. So if they fire this team there isn't much of a reason to build another.
What message will that send to other black players at other Universities if you allow the inmates to run the prison.
Where've you been? Football players pretty much do as they wish at Division I schools, especially in the SEC.
The Missouri legislature can always vote to close the funding gap of revenue lost.
That's not going to happen. They're already running a tight budget.
I agree, they want a person of color as President of all universities. They smell the victory they stole with Obama and will push it to more and more places.
Supposedly someone keeps hearing the”n-word” being shouted on campus (as if it isn’t said 400 times in every rap song), and SOMEONE made a swastika out of feces. The President “didn’t do enough” about it... and here we are. Seems like an absolute set-up to me, as well as an over-reaction that nobody can call an over-reaction.
How many of these remaining games happen to be away games?
For those that are, how are those schools going to respond to the financial loss of ticket sales? And how about season ticket holders both at UM and at whichever remaining away games... again I haven't checked the schedule but out of three games one would think that at least one, possibly two would be away games... "Can you say, "class action""?
This is nothing but cancer. These guys (I could use another word) are screwing everything up for everybody.
Would this be a good time to ax who's involved in stirring this up who is NOT a student at UM, and to ax whose interests are being served by it?
UM needs to deal with it right now, today, and if they can't field a team on Saturday by whatever means then they oughta just shut down football and take the hit on it.
It's not like people won't still be able to go to school. If UM can't field a team, just throw a big tailgate party instead, let the band play and let those young ladies, I hear they're called The Golden Girls, dance.
Surely there's enough money in the state and in the alumni base to deal with it, unless Governor Nixon takes the wrong side along with coach Pinkel, whose ass ought to be the first one fired today before lunch.
Sure is gonna be interesting to switch back and forth between Rush, who as we all know is from Missouri, and my local sports radio show that is hosted by a well-known former coach who coached in the former Big 8 and SEC conferences.
This is surreal in a way. Allegations only, no proof of anything having been done or said by any white person, and certain people are all in a tizzy about it.
Not that I'm opinionated about it or anything.
Stay tuned.
