Politico Edits Ben Carson Hit Piece, Drops Claims of ‘Fabrication’
Breitbart ^ | October 6, 2015 | Staff

Politico has rewritten the headline, lede, and several portions of the text of an article accusing Ben Carson of "fabricating" part of his personal biography involving the Military Academy at West Point.

The story, bearing the byline of reporter Kyle Cheney, now omits the original version's declarations that Carson's statements were false or fraudulent, as seen in an archive of the article.

>>Actually that theory has been around for centuries. It is not at all out there. Google it.<<

Assuming you’re talking about the pyramids being used for grain storage, I did Google it. Found an interesting article on one of the first pyramids built, and it does appear it was used for grain storage. It’s even quite possible that Joseph was the architect, as Dr. Carson suspects.

In the same article there are pictures on the walls of some pyramids of people walking up the stairs with baskets of grain on their shoulders. All of the bins even emptied into a lower collection area so that the oldest grain could be withdrawn first.

There’s little doubt that many pyramids were used as tombs, but the original ones could very possibly have been geared toward grain storage.

When someone of Dr. Carson’s intelligence says something it makes sense to not just write it off as nonsense. He’s probably got a reason for his opinion on a matter, if he’s expressing one.

Of course, on some subjects he might also be adding his religious beliefs into the mix as well, which could complicate things.

>>I don’t even know why Carson would bring something like that up. I just don’t get it. That was a bad idea.<<

Given your tag line, I’m surprised you don’t get it. Have you not heard how that experience led him to change his life? You think he should leave a life-changing experience out of his speeches, especially when it’s motivational?

I’m guessing you haven’t heard much more than what you wrote.

Read the second to the last page on the West Point prospectus at

http://www.westpoint.edu/admissions/shared%20documents/wp_prospectus.pdf

IT STATES:

ADMISSIONS DECISIONS

West Point has a rolling admissions policy. Outstanding, qualified, nominated candidates will be offered admission as their records become complete. All admissions files must be complete, to include nominations, by the last workday in February.

Financial and Service Obligation

As a cadet, you are a member of the U.S. Army and receive a full scholarship and an annual salary of more than $10,000 from which you pay for your uniforms, textbooks, a laptop computer, and incidentals. There is no tuition charge, but there is a requirement for an initial deposit. Room, board, and medical and dental care are provided by the United States Government.

Trump also needs to recognize he was wrong in repeating the story and apologize.

Good luck getting him to do that.

No fan of Carson, but as Clarence Thomas might have said, this was a 'high-tech lynching of uppity blacks'.

Hoping that the accusation would diminish the doc.

Rush beat this one to death today. Nice job Rushbo.

Journalists [in the classic definition] are only interested in the *gotcha* questions. It’s easier that way. Make it up....sources be damned.

Why the sarcasm switch.

Pursuant to the First Amendment, legal protections for libel for the news business are very strong. They require proof that the perpetrators knew what they wrote was false, had malicious intent, and it did damage. That's a high threshold in this case, such that Carson is unlikely to collect a dime.

All three or no judgment. Hence the tag.

And since Carson came from a poor Black part of Detroit, I’m thinking his Congressional rep likely didn’t have too many West Point attendees from his district. The JROTC commander would have known this, would have known there were slots available from that area, and that Carson, with his grades and JROTC leader background, would have been a shoe-in.

You need to see 104 and think about whether you need to walk back your assertion.

This was back in the dawn of the “Affirmative Action” concept when the Army and Westpoint were trying to increase the percentage of black cadets from 2% to 10%.

Carson was an excellent prospect and I can understand a four-star general telling him he could get a scholarship to Westpoint. Westpoint even advertised “scholarships” in the day.

Take a look

Stalinist tactics. Down the memory hole.

We live in an Orwellian/Stalinist era.

And as always, the damage has been done. The memes have been generated, the socialist networking shares have been posted.

It’s a Friday “y’all”, the ‘clarification’ will be missed by the low information voters. The claim will stick in their heads.

Politico used the Dan Rather/See-BS method of “reporting”. Throw it out there (ring the bell) then challenge others to prove it isn’t true, and when and if they do the bell has already been rung.

Expect more of this crap in October and November of 2016.

In 2000, there was a Sunday-before-the-election release of GWBush's decades old DWI arrest. It clearly cost him some votes, and with it his ability to claim "popular vote" since Al Gore Junior only managed a 0.51% margin in the certified popular vote.

In 2004, AP went public with some trumped up claims that Bush was AWOL while in the National Guard. Dan Ratherbiased wanted to beat them to the punch (he had the same trumped up documents) and went on air with them at CBS. For 3 days CBS (and AP?) didn't even ACKNOWLEDGE there was a controversy about their authenticity. If these news outlets had held back on them another couple of weeks, it could've cost Bush the election in 2004.

In 2006, the media and the DNC colluded on a "culture of corruption" talking point. It came out in the subsequent investigation that the Democrats KNEW about the Senator and his texting with aides MORE and EARLIER than the GOP leadership but they decided to sit on it to use as an October surprise (to usher in the Democrat leadership of Pelosi and Reid). Other "examples" of the culture of corruption were a toe tapping homosexual and a partisan purge of Tom DeLay (since cleared).

I agree. Slander is more wicked than murder.

Bible/Proverbs: Slander is as deadly as a thousand swords.

Here’s an undeniable truth:

High profile black conservatives in the ‘U’ S of A are among the toughest people in God’s Green Earth.

They take tremendous abuse and ...

... HOLD ...

... THEIR ...

... GROUND ...

The fact that Carson has contained himself for this long proves to me that he has ...

miraculous self-control.

Only God could inspire such self-control.

But at some point, the Wrath of God will fire him up, and out comes a lion.

I suspect we might be seeing that now.

The lion no longer sleeps tonight.

A few FReepers pointed out that many on this forum jumped on the Carson Bashing Bandwagon.

It’s time I remind everyone of a maxim:

If you ever, EVER hear about a scandal involving someone who is part of ‘our team’, DON’T believe it right away. Either wait a couple weeks, or wait until talk radio generally confirms the claim.

Being moderately loyal is not a crime. Saying ‘I’m skeptical of the claim’ does people more credit than harm prior to proper vetting.

That goes triple for weekend bashing — a trick to build momentum prior to talk radio.

And BTW — Yes, I read posts that call to question the purity of Caron’s conservativism. And that goes double for Trump. We are all different. We all say stupid things. But most of us are part of the team anyway. Carson and Trump are part of the team too, although if Trump keeps supporting slanders against him, that could change.

I’m glad people think that this slander caused irreparable harm. Excellent. That helps fan the fire of outrage.

This scheme backfired in a major way.

Funny how panic works. First the enemy lashes out desperately. When that fails, one side falls into chaos. That normally results in a rout.

I just hope Carson has a fresh, strong cavalry reserve.

Time for the shock troops.
