Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate, suggested in an interview Thursday that the U.S. should have bathrooms specifically for people who are transgender.
Carson was responding to questions about a recent ordinance in Houston that would have established nondiscrimination protections for gay and transgender people. Voters rejected the ordinance after an 18-month battle in which opponents argued that allowing transgender men and women to use their preferred public bathrooms would open the door to sexual predators who wanted to enter women's restrooms.
Carson's response: "How about we have a transgender bathroom?"
"It is not fair for them to make everybody else uncomfortable," he said. "It's one of the things that I don't particularly like about the [LGBT] movement. I think everybody has equal rights, but I'm not sure that anybody should have extra rights--extra rights when it comes to redefining everything for everybody else and imposing your view on everybody else."

When I was traveling with my late husband who had advancing Alzheimers, Family Bathrooms were a lifesaver. Seems like a good solution for many large public places.

This is confusing. Are they to be all-encompassing or vice versa things? Does everyone use a urinal or a toilet? Should there be bidets or showers or simply hand sanitizer? Is clothing optional or is an attendant needed to help with any garment, um, difficulties? Should there be hair spray, Old Spice or makeup?
The thought of these deranged paraphiliacs invading that space horrifies me.

It wasn’t good enough to carry her up the four steps into the building. No, that simply wouldn’t do.
I think the ADA compliant ramp cost $10k or $15k.
A couple days before the new term started, they pulled their daughter out of our school. To this day, I doubt the ramp has ever had a wheelchair on it.”
An ADA activist in a wheel chair making the rounds of public buildings demanded that a small local public library add an outdoor wheelchair elevator on the front face of the building, because he wasn’t satisfied with the path to the side entrance that everyone else used. The path had no steps and others with wheel chairs had no problem with it. The elevator thing did get built on the front of the building - there was not the will on the part of local government officials to deny the request - but that device, also costing about $10,000 about 15 years ago, was never used by him or anyone else. Public dollars down the drain and the quaint building facade scarred for no reasonable reason.
I rarely ever watched SNL, so I guess I probably missed that.
