The same thing is true for the Democrats. The Democratic primaries give equal weight to the southern states, even though there is no chance their candidate could win the election there.
I like how they declare that the guy who gets fewer votes is the more electable.
If the GOP apparatchiks take away the will of the people, they will destroy their own party.
Perhaps that is their goal.
This is all political bull sh*t.
Point being the process is rigged to insure that the candidate considered most palatable by the political class is selected.
Trump will win New York, but Pataki is in there to cut Trump’s numbers.
If this goes to the convention, and there’s a good possibility it will, I believe they’ve seen how poor a candidate that Bush is. They will not choose him.
If they choose to unify the party they’ll pick some kind of Cruz or Rubio combination.
Yeah, that's great!
Because we NEED Mr. 4% to be nominated, right?
.
A Rinse Prius/Karl Rove move?
How about a million Patriots at the Republican National Convention?! Game On!
Open primaries should be banned. The idea that a political party would let anyone other then enrolled member of that party pick a candidate is insane.
I hate the Electrical College too... /s
WTH? It just never ends.
Time for Trump to pull out his wallet and file a lawsuit against the RNC. Sue their asses for $100 Million.
“pragmatic, moderate Republicans” = lying, cringing, sold-out, PC, DC insider GOP establishment scum bought and paid for by the plutocrats and oligarchs and who continuously stab we American workers in the back and who’ve done NOTHING to stop a single iota of Obama’s Fabian socialist, U.S.A-destroying agenda.
So, GOPe, nominate one of those by hook and crook and see what happens! Apparently the GOPe is so stupid that they do not appear to understand that any establishment candidate they might squeak through the primaries will lose in a landslide because they terminally pissed off 40% of their base, but also that they will lose the down-tickets across the board, including Congress, the Governors, and the State houses, because the base WILL stay home.
Yes, I know the money-people behind the GOPe wonât care because theyâve simply bought ALL the politicians on both sides of the aisle anyway, so THEY canât lose no matter what happens, but youâd think that GOPe party apparatus and their other candidates WOULD care about losing. Perhaps the GOPe REALLY is the stupid party, after all.
Note to GOP establishment leadership: you have been warned. If one of your precious lying, cringing, sold-out, PC, DC insider GOP establishment scum who continuously stabs we American workers in the back is nominated, I promise you ARE going to lose and lose big time. In case you haven’t noticed, the great unwashed masses of your “base are in open revolt.
We elected you to majorities in both houses of Congress and you’ve done NOTHING to stop a single iota of Obama’s kommie, U.S.A-destroying agenda. Instead, all you’ve done is make excuses, pretended you were powerless when you were simply too frightened to wield your power and conducted kabuki theater which you thought was fooling us.
Well, we DO actually know better. And if you want to take the whole party down in flames, why, we’ll be glad to help, because what you have now deserves to go down in flames, either with Trump or without him.
Winner takes all.
Yes, the system does over-represent moderates in the delegate counts for both parties. But it has never resuscitated a 5th place candidate polling under 5% in November. ALL that Jeb does staying is peel away moderate votes that would otherwise go to Rubio (or possibly Carson giving their shared immigration views). Trump, Carson AND Rubio would all need to self-destruct for Jeb to be back in the game.
GOP-e is at it again. It will be a selection, not an election.
PING!
If Trump starts racking up 50%+ wins in states and the RNC tries to deny him, there will be trouble.
People should lay off the “open primaries” issue. The GOP can’t change state laws on that. Furthermore, New York already has closed primaries, but a NY district is highlighted in the article as an example of the anti-conservative bias in the rules.
The bias comes from the delegate allocation rules, which the GOP could change — if it wanted to be fair to conservatives.
