"....Matalin, who served as a top political advisor to both presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, said she believes the favorite to win the GOP presidential nomination is Sen. Ted Crus (R-Tex), whom she said appeals to conservatives of all stripes.
'My money right now is on Ted Cruz,' she said. 'Again, I'm unaligned, but I think he speaks to the myriad factions of conservatism: Constitutionalists, Libertarians, the social conservatives.'
'I think he's whip-smart, as evidenced by his debate appearances, and he's a true, true, true constitutionalist, and everything's lining up for him,' she added.
Matalin said the trio of outsider candidates in the field (Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, and Donald Trump) have had a positive influence on the election by forcing other candidates out of their shells...."

Gotta be one of the strangest pairings in history. But as far as I know, Mary’s conservative standing remains intact.
“matlin plays good cop-bad cop with olâ snakeface. Cant stand either one.”
Worse yet, they have children!
I think if you “can’t stand Cruz”, there is something wrong with you.
why is she surprised? Jeb! said he would win without the base support early on. That was a red light signal the guy was totally inept.
Serpenthead will have a connection..
“My money’s on Cruz. “
So’s mine.
Carville on Cruz— this comment from 2013-
I think he is the most talented and fearless Republican politician Iâve seen in the last 30 years... Iâve listened to excerpts of his speech in South Carolina. He touches every button, and this guy has no fear. He just keeps plowing ahead. And he is going to be something to watch.
As the conversation continued and others on the panel said that other conservatives such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fl.) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will likely also run in 2016, Carville added:
CARVILLE: Ted Cruz is going to eat their lunch. That guy, Iâm telling you, he will out debate. I am just saying, he is a talent. Iâm not rooting. Iâm really sincere here. We watch him, he does things..and you go- “This guy is something.” Now I donât agree with him. I think heâs out there. But Iâm telling you, heâs more talented than all of these other guys.
Yes it is an important issue, and Cruz’s stand on H-1B visas is frankly acquiescence on his part to his big money donors.
George W. Bush can’t stand Ted Cruz, because Cruz went before the Supreme Court and argued against the Bush administration wanting to release 21 criminals because the Mexican Consulate said they didn’t have access to Mexico’s lawyers or counseling. Ted won that case.
Nah, change won't happen with just rhetoric, it takes power. Power to effectuate change.
I'm a big believer in getting stuff done, but you have to admit, the discussion is very different this cycle than it was last cycle.
I've donated to Cruz since he was running for Senator. He has changed the dialog and gotten stuff done. He's good for both.
I'd like him as POTUS or VPOTUS under Trump.

OK. I’ll grant the Cruz’s stance on H1B - to the extent I understand it - doesn’t match mine.
But the complete list of indictments against Cruz for apostasies against conservatism appears to be:
- He’s for expanding HiB visas;
- His wife works for Bear Stearnes
So far as I can tell....that’s it. So OK, he’s not perfect. But how do these apostasies stack up against the other GOP candidates?
Trump - Supports taking private property via eminent domain for PRIVATE use. Has described himself as extremely “pro-choice.” Still speaks favorably of single-payer health plans. Has supported “assault weapons” prohibitions. Has given money to numerous left-wing Democrats.
Rubio - Supported Gang of 8. Not only supported it but actively pushed it. Unlike many here, I MIGHT be able to forgive this and generally see him as a good candidate. But his apostasy in immigration FAR outweighs any that Cruz has.
The others? Do we really even need to discuss the others? Carson, who knows? The others are useless, except maybe Jindal who is polling about where I am.

Great info. Didn’t know that. Thanks.

Love that picture. Where did you find it and if you made it, may I use it? (67 Mustang is great, I had one of those myself.)
Cruz is, has been and will be my number one candidate. I do have a soft spot for Carson, knowing he is not as conservative as I like. Unfortunately, my gut tells me it may be Rubio and he will be squishy on many issues.
Cruz’s tax plan will do more to bring back and create jobs than anything I have seen or heard.
Also, since he doesn’t trash his competitors, there’s a fair chance they will release their delegates to him. It may come down to delegates and Cruz is planning for that.
I like Cruz, but Trumps the man for 2016.
“Cruzâs tax plan will do more to bring back and create job”
The way to create jobs is to build the economy, not by protectionism. That what the unions what. Free markets are always best.
