After taking a battering in last month's poll, Donald Trump has re-emerged at the top of the Republican field in the latest IBD/TIPP poll.
Support for Trump among registered Republicans and those leaning Republican is 28%; support for Carson is 23%. Last month's poll had Carson up by 7 points over Trump.
Marco Rubio comes in third at 11%, the same as last month.
No other GOP candidate reached double digits. Support for Jeb Bush dropped two points to 6%; Carly Fiorina collapsed to 3% from last month's 9%. Ted Cruz held at 6%.
"Trump's support in the last poll suffered somewhat because of his nearly weeklong boycott of Fox News, which has since been lifted," said Raghavan Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, which conducts the IBD/TIPP poll. "Carson has recently been under more scrutiny by both the media and other candidates."
Mayur added, "Though our latest poll shows Trump leading Carson, the poll's margin of error of +/- five points means that Trump and Carson are still running a close race."

Apparently millions disagree with you. He has raised more money than any other candidate, too. He is flush with cash. Deal with it.
The quality of the candidate is reflected by the quality of his supporters. I have found so many of his supporters lacking in integrity, and a bunch of other things.
A buffoon and clownish candidate reflected by a buffoonish and clownish supporter.
>> Apparently millions disagree with you.
So what. Millions disagreed with me on Obama, too. They got him and they are sorry now. I’ll continue to do what I can to head that off with Obama II (aka Ben Carson).
>> Deal with it.
Asking questions like “who are the idiots supporting this poor choice” is how I deal with it. Get used to it.
>> Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
You left out the word “foolish”, as do many who foolishly misuse the quote to fit their own false rhetoric.
I didn’t want to insult, but if the quotation fits .
“Who ARE all these naïfs who think Carson would somehow make a good president?”
I keep asking that about Trump supporters. There’s only one conservative in the race, and it’s neither of them.
I didn’t think Carson had a great debate performance. I think Rubio will continue to climb and if Jeb Bush and another candidate or two (Kasich? Paul? Huckabee?) drop out, the establishment might unite behind him. If Trump made an effort to attract social conservatives, the whole thing might be over quickly. As Santorum surged just ahead of voting last time, I think the same possibility exists for Cruz and Christie because they’re quick on their feet and good in the debates.
To claim Carson is Obama II is a howler. Well, we do know Carson does not support same sex marriage and Obama does. That right there disqualifies your howler of a statement.
I really am curious what makes you state these grand, big and bold statements that are howlers? You come across more of a yahoo, certainly not very thoughtful.
We have had enough.
It's easy to get distracted by the Trump vs Carson "horserace" that the media is trying to gin up.
But know this. The big picture here is that more than FIFTY PERCENT of the base is supporting for president a candidate who has never before held political office.
This is a major smackdown of the GOP by its own rank and file. We are no longer accepting the garbage that they have been serving up to us all these years.
The establishment and the establishment media are frightened to death that the masses are finally waking up and are now threatening their plans to insert their owned and paid for president to replace the currently owned and paid for president.
As the calendar flips to November, the focus of most Americans will shift to Thanksgiving, Christmas and football. Unless a candidate is driven out (as Cain was in November 2011), do not look for the polls to change much between now and then.
We will come into the New Year with both Trump and Carson way ahead in the top tier and only a few weeks remaining until the primary season starts. The GOPe candidates are going to struggle to achieve even double digits.
The GOPe is now in full panic mode.
>> I really am curious what makes you state these grand, big and bold statements that are howlers?
What a coincidence! I wonder the same about you. How could anyone be so naïve as to support Carson over Cruz? It baffles me.
Your response is a non response. Why did you bother? So, again, I ask, why these huge big all in one statements that are howlers? It makes you look either ridiculous or lazy intellectually at best. Why do you do that?
>> Your response is a non response. Why did you bother?
A review of your posting history convinced me that you’re not worth more than what I furnished.
So long, Dave. Best wishes.
Surely by now you know that polls are for shaping and manipulating public opinion, not merely recording it!
You are now witnessing The Rising of the Rubio: The Replacement Acceptable Candidate Arrives.
They'll surge him until he's "inevitable" if they can get away with it. Pesky damn primaries are right around the corner, though. They'll have to think up some sprightly prose about "superior organizing capabilities" to account for Rubio's getting 15% of the primary votes, but 45% of the delegates. Bit tricky, that .... but familiar from recent years. And not too hard, when you can buy ink by the barrel.
Cruz dropped the ball over H1B and TPT. He lost me then. I still like a lot about him, but not as President....yet.
The most conservative Republican who can get elected. That is not Trump.
...............................................................
So you’ll sacrifice the country just for the label “Conservative?” Who is really a conservative?
The MAJOR ISSUES are what are important in this election. For me, those are,1. NATIONAL SECURITY, Build the wall and Throw out the illegals.
2. STRENGTHENING OUR MILITARY which has been decimated my this Administration, just like Clinton did.
3. GET AMERICA BACK with a STRONG ECONOMY. Trump is a successful businessman. He won’t give away America’s SOVEREIGNTY.
This country is not going to turn around overnight. The damage is too great. BUT a strong president can get us going in the right direction and I think Trump has the leadership abilities and skill set to do just that.
How do you explain away Carson’s support of Al Sharpton and the other sleazy commie? By the way, he does support same sex marriage because he doesn’t dissent....”it’s the law.”
