Kasich: I Brought Ford Jobs Back, Not Trump
NEWSMAX ^ | 10-26-2015 | Greg Richter

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump claimed credit Sunday for Ford Motor Company's plans to move a production plant from Mexico to Ohio.

Trump has been calling out Ford during his campaign, saying the automaker plans to move jobs from Michigan to Mexico, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who also is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, says the move from Mexico to Ohio had nothing to Trump's demands. "The truth is that Ford began moving jobs back to Ohio four years ago under the leadership of Governor John Kasich," the governor's campaign said in a statement to the press on Sunday night.

"Our country needs real leadership and not empty, false rhetoric," Kasich said. "Working as a team, we brought Ford production jobs back from Mexico to Ohio years ago. That's how things really get done. Hard work and teamwork brings results for the people."

When Kasich announced Ford was bringing the jobs to Ohio in 2011 the vice president of Ford North America Manufacturing said it was "enabled by the Governor and his strong leadership," the campaign noted.

Well the recent news is that Ford was scrapping its plans for the 2.5B plant in Mexico. That was the headline. If that news is accurate, then it has nothing to do with Ford moving truck lines to Ohio. It can only be attributed to Trump’s frontrunner status and his credible threat to put a hurt on Ford if they continue building plants in Mexico.

“We can’t afford to have another president who doesn’t understand his actions must not exceed his power given him by the constitution.”

That’s one point I haven’t seen yet. Very true. We don’t know Trump won’t do that. One thing he’ll do better than Obama is negotiating with congress. Negotiating is the key to his kind of enterprise. And part of running a business is finding and knowing who listen to and delegate tasks to. He’s already listened to Sessions on immigration and Forbes and Laffer on taxes. It appears he listened to them, and took their advice. That makes me think he is not acting like a dictator, but takes and seeks advice.

However, I haven’t seen any candidate except Trump come up with a policy on immigration that I like. Born and raised in Texas, I’ve seen a state ruined by illegals. Then I jumped from the frying pan into the fire in California, LOL! It’s my #1 issue, has been for decades, long before Free Republic was pro-amnesty.

Without fixing our illegal immigration nightmare, none of the other issues matter.

Okay. So, Kasich, “Me, me, did it all”, after all. .)

True, I’m having a little fun at Kasich’s expense.

But there is no basis for that "recent news." All of the rumors floating around on the topic--including Trump's own tweets--are based on an article published on "Prntly" (whatever that is), which discusses the Ohio move, and suggests (wrongly) that the Ohio move means that Ford has cancelled the 2.5B plant.

In fact, there is ZERO evidence that Ford is scrapping the 2.5B plant, and Ford has released a statement saying that it is NOT doing so.

I read your other post too, but I’ll respond here.

Looks like I owe you an apology. The Focus (and another vehicle) lines are still going to Mexico.

I had thought there was an agreement in the last few days covering these vehicles, but I can’t find it. Evidently I was wrong.

Sorry for the mistake on my part, and I have to agree with your claim Trump shouldn’t take credit.

Unless I am once against making a mistake here, I think you’re right.

The truck agreement had been in the works, and the vehicle line is still going to Mexico. The vehicle line is the one Trump addressed.

Kasich does deserve credit, and has been strangely silent on this until now.

You’re not very smart are you? Sorry you didn’t get the education you should have.

The news was reported by CNN Money. But CNN is out to get Trump as are the Washington Post and RedState.

For analysis suppose they baited Trump’s people into believing Ford cancel the 2.5 B plant in Mexico.

Than it follows that Donald Trump still has a major campaign issue in play which is to tax the hell out of American companies that are stiffing the American workers or have them do business stateside.

Either way, Trump has outsmarted these nubes. They can’t take him down because they are just smart enough.

Try again.

I saw the link you posted above before you posted it here.

I also say the media groups behind the attack; CNN Money. Redstate, WAPO and so on. It was clear that it was a setup.

But Trump still wins because Ford will be on the chopping block unless they get with the program. That’s what the dimwits are missing here. They attack and still lose, and comically think they are winning points.

Ha! You Trumpettes are hilarious!

CNN Money didn't report ANYTHING about the 2.5B plant. CNN Money accurately reported about the truck lines being moved to Ohio. And they reported it in August, when the production lines started running in Ohio. Some moron writing on "Prntly" took that article, and (wrongly) reported that Ford had cancelled its plans re: the 2.5B plant. Trump (and many of his supporters) picked up on the Prntly article, and began taking credit for Ford cancelling its 2.5B plant (which Ford has not done).

But to you Trumpettes, Trump couldn't have been wrong. It must have been that he was "baited" into believing that Ford cancelled the plant. Because...I don't know...Trump is never wrong?

And you call me uneducated? Ha!

No doubt Trump will have an impact, as will others who will now play follow the leader. It’s just that a years-long international project isn’t going to get shut down by a few speeches.

It will take years to alter the course of this Titanic, if it can be altered at all. It’s possible that companies like Ford believe America is headed for collective poverty and would rather take their chances with growing Third World economies.

So even though Trump was wrong here (Ford has not cancelled its plans to open the 2.5B plant in Mexico), and even though Trump has not had any success in convincing Ford to do anything (in fact, since Trump started criticizing Ford, Ford has announced ADDITIONAL moves to Mexico), Trump must be winning because "Ford will be on the chopping block"?

So, to you, the fact that Trump is threatening Ford means that Trump "wins," regardless of the results? OK, then.

It doesn’t matter who reported it although it was attributed to CNNMoney. It doesn’t matter because Trump still wins. That’s what you don’t get.

The message from the Trump brand is “America First!”. That’s what the voters hear. No one gives a damn about your pointless ‘he said-they said’ rant. It doesn’t matter.

That you can’t see the above should give reason to pause and reflect. But then that would be a sign of learning and we all know a definition of ‘stupid’ is an inability to learn.

Try again; lose again.

So, Trump wins Trump is loud and selling his message, so the facts don't matter? OK. I'd prefer a candidate who speaks truthfully, but if he wants to lie to appeal to low-info voters, then OK. And if you want to be one of those low-info voters who doesn't care about the facts, that's OK too.

That you can’t see the above should give reason to pause and reflect. But then that would be a sign of learning and we all know a definition of ‘stupid’ is an inability to learn.

A Trumpette who doesn't care about the facts resorts to insults? Color me shocked.

It can be altered very quickly, very very quickly. It’s not comparable to turning a large ocean going vessel because the bottom line dictates a shutdown or cancellation.

What Ford will do now is try to defeat Donald Trump. They will support and fund all efforts to do so.

But the UAW and others won’t make it easy for them.

No matter what they do, they get clobbered. especially now that Americans are aware of what’s going on. No amount of PAC funding or negative ads can put the toothpaste of truth back in the tube. No matter what Ford does, the public is now on to them. No matter what the future holds, Ford can’t overcome the negative image they’ve been cast into.

Trump wins.

> “...so the facts don’t matter?”

Which facts? The fact that Ford is building a 2.5 B plant in Mexico that robs Americans of jobs? That fact?

It doesn’t matter that the media bait Trump with a gotcha. Because the original amd most important fact is that Ford is not putting America first whereas Trump is. That’s the only fact that matters in this election.

That you don’t see this, again is a cause for pause and reflection. But stupid people can’t learn so what can be done for them?

How the heck did the media "bait Trump with a gotcha"? CNN Money accurately reported about the Ohio plant. Based on the CNN Money article, some no-name blog wrongly reported that Ford had cancelled its 2.5B plant in Mexico. And Trump picked up on the no-name blog, to take credit for Ford's decision. That's not the media baiting Trump, that's Trump making a mistake and jumping to take credit for something that was reported in an unsourced no-name blog.

Whether or not Trump is "putting America first" has nothing to do with Trump's taking credit for something that didn't happen. Those are the facts I was referring to.

That you don’t see this, again is a cause for pause and reflection. But stupid people can’t learn so what can be done for them?

Once again, you resort to insults.

If you can’t figure it out, it’s nobody’s fault but your own.

I will repeat here for those reading and learning, just so you know this is not for you because it is quite obvious you have issues with learning and comprehension.

Trump wins because he is putting America first.

Ford loses because they are not putting America first.

Just that simple. And no matter what games the media play, the basic simple message remains clear.

I understand full well that you think Trump wins simply because of his message. But the point of this article is that Trump was taking credit for Ford's decision to scrap its plans for a $2.5B plant in Mexico. Ford has not scrapped its plans. So, it is indisputable that Trump is factually wrong.

What is also indisputable is that, despite Trump's criticism of Ford, Ford has not bowed to Trump's pressure. In fact, Ford announced MORE moves to Mexico after Trump started criticizing them. So, while you may agree with Trump's "clear" message, the fact is that it has had little, if any, impact on Ford's decision-making process.

And yet, when this is pointed out to you, you respond with insults.
