Newly minted Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson told an Iowa audience on Tuesday that he would use the savings from ending oil industry subsidies to pay for new ethanol blending stations.
Carson, in his first speech in the state as a candidate, was asked by a voter about the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), the federal mandate that fuel refiners blend a certain volume of ethanol and biodiesel into their gasoline and diesel supplies. "I don't particularly like the idea of government subsidies for anything because it interferes with the natural free market," Carson said, according to The Des Moines Register.
Therefore, I would probably be in favor of taking that $4 billion a year we spend on oil subsidies and using that in new fueling stations" for 30 percent ethanol blends, he added.

You'd think Dr. Ben would know Ethanol is bad stuff.
Carson is a ho’. Cruz is a hero.
Carson sure has this pandering thing down pat. He’s more of a politician than we give him credit for.
I’ve had to rebuild the carburetors on every 2 cycle engine I own - about 8 of them. Also on some 4 cycle yard engines.
Had two Hondas’ O2 sensors go bad, a Dodge 150 and an F150 all because of ethanol.
If Iowa wants to do the nation of ours a service, stop allowing their corn to be made into ethanol for engines.
I guess you say he’s a “Corn Ho”
Also, stop using corn to manufacture High Fructose Corn Syrup. There are plenty of nutritional uses for corn, if it's not turned into despicable goo.
Carson may be getting some of the gas0h0l $s sent his way:

The 2016 presidential election is putting Iowa in the news a lot recently because a strong showing in the states early primary can give a big boost to campaigns. The location also gives us a chance to learn the candidates positions on the Renewable Fuel Standard and ethanol subsidies because the Hawkeye State is a major farming region, especially of corn. Republican hopeful Dr. Ben Carson recently made his feelings known as a definite supporter of the crop-based fuel.
I dont particularly like the idea of government subsidies for anything because it interferes with the natural free market, Carson said to the Des Moines Register.
Therefore, I would probably be in favor of taking that $4 billion a year we spend on oil subsidies and using that in new fueling stations for 30-percent ethanol blends. Carson predicted that under his plan gasoline would be 50 cents to 80 cents less expensive per gallon.
Carson could face serious pushback outside of Iowa, if hes serious about offering a 30-percent ethanol blend. States like Hawaii and Oregon have been trying to pass laws to get rid of their 10-percent mix mandates, and Florida has already done so.
The national debate over increasing the nationwide blend limit from E10, or 10 percent ethanol, to E15, is also already contentious. As Hotair notes, Dr. Carsons statement also seems contradictory. If hes against government subsidies, then moving $4 billion from one place to another doesnt really change anything.
Among the candidates in Iowa, Dr. Carson is hardly the only ethanol supporter, though. Hillary Clinton already signaled her support for the fuel and several Republican hopefuls did, as well.
“Ben Carson told an Iowa audience on Tuesday that he would use the savings from ending oil industry subsidies to pay for new ethanol blending stations.”
Doubling down on a bad policy. Maybe he will win Iowa.
Moreover, if Trump is for it, it gots to be good, coz he be perfect and all, and he has got billions, and it is a super secret strategy... blah blah blah
There is a reason farmland in Iowa is selling for $10k+ and acre (and FARMERS are paying it)
Aren’t corn prices at five-year lows, barely above cost of production?
My wife had a great 1968 Camaro Convertible with the basic v8 engine.
It got over 20 miles per gallon, and besides new tires every 4 years, a new top and new paint job to go with the new tires, it was a great vehicle.
My wife loved it, and it survived our teen age drivers.
However, it didn’t survive the mandated Gas0h0l.
A family friend in his independent auto shop did the tuneups when the time came. The car had only about 80k miles on it when mandated gas0h0l came out. Our friend said the engine would probably be DOA in a few months. It happened in his time frame, and we replaced it with a California rebuilt engine. The mileage dropped to about 14-16 mpg. The performance also went downhill.
My wife sold her sluggish Camaro and had several buyers.
The good news was, we didnt have an engine fire like so many Cali drivers did with their older cars aa the Gas0h0l apparently dissolved the rubber/? gaskets/fittings. That seems not to be a problem. It just destroyed the engine.
Last, but not least, this is another example of Crony capitalism, which is why both Clintoons love gas0h0l.
The best way to buy votes in “corn country” is to promise taxpayer money to corn growers.
And I don’t understand that. The percentage of farm owners to regular workers has to be small.
More governtment sponsored vote buying and corruption?
Sorry ben
First off, Iowa has hired two major lobby groups, one that lobbies the Republicans, the other to lobby the Democrats.
It is time for people to realize that Iowa is not big enough to matter. It matters to the Media because they are first and get talked about the most, but in fact Iowa does not matter.
My friends in Iowa might be complaining a little...
But they're still planting it.

Fuel prices now are about at their lowest over the last 12 years, except for a few short instances inbetween.
“When in a different audience, cater to them. Screw ethics, standards and moral convictions in order to get a few extra votes.”
Exactly as Obama did.
How many of those regular workers, in Iowa, are working at a corn processing plant, ethanol plant or in some ways tied to the farming industry???
Iowa is pretty big on E-85.
$0.30 cheaper vs regular E-10.
Most people are unaware of what it does or is.
So the regular worker sees a "savings" of $5.00 per tank, at the pump.
