His campaign has more cash on hand than that of any other Republican in the hunt. If you add super PAC money thats been officially disclosed so far to the tally, he trails only Jeb and Hillary Clinton.
...
Hes the patron saint of lost causes, at least if they bring the spotlight his way. In that sense hes emblematic of the flamboyantly uncompromising comrades in the so-called Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives, who similarly confuse attention with accomplishment.
All of them, with Cruz as their spiritual leader, have turned petulance into a theory of governing, or rather anti-governing, as they breezily disregard the contradiction of their ravenous lunge to become monarchs of a kingdom that they supposedly want to topple, to gain power over a system that they ostensibly intend to enfeeble.
Cruz doesnt propose remedies. He performs rants. Hes not interested in collaboration or teamwork. His main use for other politicians, even in his party, is as foils and targets. Paul Ryan got a taste of that over the weekend, when Cruz, on NBCs Meet the Press, was asked if Ryan was a true conservative and dodged the question, withholding his blessing.
He should be careful about genuineness versus phoniness, given the problems with his own prairie-populist pose.
Cruzs law degree is from Harvard and he did his undergraduate work at Princeton, where the 250-year-old debating club that he belonged to is called the American Whig-Cliosophic Society. Cruzs wife is on leave from a job with Goldman Sachs.
Keep that in mind when he rails against the establishment and the elites. And remember that when someone is as broadly and profoundly disliked as Cruz is, its usually not because hes a principled truth teller.
Its because hes frightening.

Sen. Cruz isn’t part of the House Freedom Caucus.
There was a poll that had him at 10% recently. BTW, Obie was trailing Hillary by 33% at this point in 2007. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/02/AR2007100202365.html A lot happens between now and the primaries.
You can want in one hand and wish in the other and see which one gets full first...
.
First “W” now the NYT!
They’re going insane over Ted Cruz.
They only attack the one that is a true danger to their cause, and for sure it is Cruz and only Cruz this time.
No wonder they work so hard to keep the Donald in the spotlight; when Cruz gets there they are toast.
How long can they prevent it?
.
.
Whatever you’re on, discontinue it.
You’re losing your cognitive capacity at an alarming rate.
Ryan wants amnesty. What happened to him?
GO TRUMP
.
If you wish to go by calculated Push Polls, it says much about you.
.
.
I go twice a day, how many times is “trump?”
.
Palin Deranged Syndrome has mutated.
“I have not seen him move up much in the polls. His number today is 6. Usually it is 4. He is not getting the numbers needed to get elected in the primary.”
Polls are national numbers. They don’t tell the story of what’s happening in individual counties. His strength, whether he has it or not, will be shown in Iowa/New Hampshire/South Carolina. We’ll know then, by those numbers, which candidates have the continued ability to win as the chosen candidate.
Ted Cruz is stuck as a bottom feeder.
He’s a fake conservative who never actually gets anything done.
What bill has he passed that has cut the deficit or Obamacare? Nothing.
Donald Trump is someone who gets things done. So is Jindal, so is Scott Walker.
Ted Cruz runs his mouth and takes people’s money. He does nothing to actually enact legislation.
so Ted Cruz has passed no legislation... and “the donald” has ?
Interesting method of comparison you have there.
Yep. If lefties think he’s scary, then Cruz is your man! Go Cruz!
“The only people who fear Ted Cruz and constantly attack him are a tiny group of dishonest leftists in Washington and the media.”
Actually, we’ve learned that George W. Bush and his groupies aren’t fond of Ted Cruz, either.
He's gonna need a helmet and flak jacket soon. Armor up!
Shocking that the NYT writer is gay...literally.
He’s was also the NYT restaurant critic throughout most of the 2000s.
“And remember that when someone is as broadly and profoundly disliked as Cruz is, its usually not because hes a principled truth teller.
Its because hes frightening”.
Would this buffoon say the same is true for Obama, I think not
Tisk, tisk, New York Slimes.
He is frightening EXACTLY because he is a principled truth teller.
If getting things done in Washington is your criterion, then you must approve of Pelosi passing Obamacare and Obama signing executive orders approving amnesty for illegals. Quite a bit of difference between radical liberal accomplishments and working as a constitutional conservative. Of course, he could always compromise with them and then take credit for some very small step forward while such legislation is a large step backward hitting individual liberties in favor of big government. That’s what too many of elected Republicans (GOPe) do.
