Sen. Ted Cruz declined to comment in detail Tuesday on critical comments by George W. Bush, saying the former president is simply sticking up for his brother Jeb.
I have great respect for George W. Bush, and was proud to work on his 2000 campaign and in his administration, Cruz said in a statement. Its no surprise that President Bush is supporting his brother and attacking the candidates he believes pose a threat to his campaign. I have no intention of reciprocating.
Cruz responded to a Politico report that Bush spoke harshly of Cruz over the weekend, telling a group of donors: I just dont like the guy.
One donor to the Jeb Bush campaign told Politico that George W. Bush criticized Cruz for sucking up to Republican front-runner Donald Trump and just expecting all of his support to come to him in the end.
In his statement, Cruz did say of the former president: I met my wife, Heidi, working on his campaign, and so I will always be grateful to him."
"And Cruz is the establishment's number one enemy, number one elected Republican enemy. They hate him. They literally despise him. And that's on display every time Cruz opens his mouth about something, be it on the floor of the Senate, about McConnell or -- I mean, Chuck Grassley, Chuck Grassley most of the you see him he looks like he's half asleep. Even Chuck Grassley calm alive to trash Ted Cruz. You just don't see this.
Now, Cruz can parlay this....news coming out of that meeting does not help Jeb at all, and it does, it does help Cruz because it makes it look like the establishment is scared to death of the guy.
Your enemies will always tell you who they fear. Leftist enemies, conservative, Republican enemies, enemies will always tell you who or what they fear.
Go, Cruz, GO!
George W Bush is a big government RINO that expanded government, Wasted thousands of noble lives for nothing started the bailout scam and gave us Obama. Screw George W Bush and he is brother and his read my lips father.
Class act ... well done.
It would be easy to simply agree with Cruz here, but that would be too easy.
Cruz should care what George W. thinks about him.
As long as Bush hates him, it’s a great endorsement of his sound policies.
I bet a lot of people do. Bush is about 70% RINO putz, so a bad mark from him acts as an endorsement. The only higher endorsement is if (when) Juan "Lettuce" McAisleReachingBackStabbingPantsStain says HE doesn't like Cruz.
This is what is passed as political news these days?
Are we supposed to think of our Presidential candidates as third grade girls?
“So an so said they don’t like you...what do you think?”
Excellent response. In a better America, he would be the only choice, in either party.
Now that is how to act like a gentleman....
I’m not voting for Cruz, Trump is my guy, but when someone steps up and does the right thing, I want them to know that I appreciate it....Thank You Cruz for showing some people in this world how things are done....
Ted is a class act
George who?
Ted Cruz has class. GW, not so much.
Cruz is once again holding class on being classy and acting presidential even when all around are acting like clowns.
RUSH IS RIGHT!
GO, CRUZ GO!
Hey YEB, your brother did you NO FAVORS!
HaHaHaHaHaHa
It looks like I’m going to have to start listening to Rush again.
Cruz shows more class than GWBush.
Former President George W. Bush said at a closed door fundraiser Sunday that he does "not like that guy," referring to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, according to a Republican source who attended the fundraiser.
Bush isn't denying the account that he dislikes Cruz, who represents Bush's home state of Texas and is taking on his brother for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
This gives Cruz an opening to run against GWBush and his policies.
Why not? It worked for Obama — twice.
