Trump Doubles Down On Bush 9/11 Remarks: "They Did Know It Was Coming"
Breitbart.com ^ | October 20, 2015 | Jeff Poor

On Tuesday’s “New Day” on CNN, Republican presidential front-runner defended his response aimed at his GOP opponent former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL), who had claimed in a debate earlier this month that the country was kept safe under former President George W. Bush.

No direct actionable material, but plenty of warnings and in totality that did not receive the high priority that the president should have assigned to the threat.

As I said above, there was more than one besides the August 6th document that crossed Bush’s desk. Here’s a sample of them:

— CIA, “Bin Ladin Planning Multiple Operations,” April 20
— CIA, “Bin Ladin Attacks May Be Imminent,” June 23
— CIA, “Planning for Bin Ladin Attacks Continues, Despite Delays,” July 2
— CIA, “Threat of Impending al Qaeda Attack to Continue Indefinitely,” August 3 “

20-20 hindsight is always perfect in telling us what we should have known after the fact.

But they did know an attack was imminent! They were sitting on a request to increase covert operations against Al-qaeda since March! Shoddy immigration policies were in effect and are STILL in effect to this day, letting random Islamic cretins from Saudi Arabia lie all over their applications and still get approved.

They knew it was coming and didn't take it seriously until after it happened. That's just a fact. You can blame Clinton for creating a great big fog in our intelligence agencies; you can blame the Dems for making it harder for Bush to get his people in; but you can't claim that Bush had terrorism as his top priority, even after repeated warnings of something in the works.

well, I guess it’s official...you are not interested in the truth....you are not the least bit concerned with WHY something happened....you simply hate Bush more than you love the country or the truth or the Constitution or anything else.

Goodie for you.

BTW, there is no way in hell any Republican...EVEN ST DONALDUS LIBERALUS....will beat ANY DEMOCRAT as long as people keep blaming Bush for 911 and for the eocnomy. No way in hell.FR is not the voting population. it’s not even a rounding error.

Define “imminent:” how many minutes, hours, days until the attack was going to happen!

He was being told over and over again, attack may just be weeks away! Attack may be "delayed," but still in the works. They were essentially being told that an attack can happen at any time.

This is the primary season! There will be plenty of time to beat Hillary over the head with it when the time comes.

No, not at all.

You do both in the primary season. You criticize your Republican opponents and you criticize the Democrats.

Hey Donald, what about this?

Glad you have it all figured out for us.

Bush’s legacy is not good. 9/11 aside.

Where is the quote where Trump says the Bush administration knew the 9/11 attack was going to happen?

Did anyone read the actual article? I like the selective CNN quote mastery.

This is not truther territory. Knowing it’s coming and failing to do what needed to be done to stop it is not the same thing as deliberately standing down. It’s a basic distinction between incompetence and evil.

Think about it this way, the more the New York Times attacks him, the more the average Joe likes him.

See I don't want a candidate just because the NYT attacks him (that is going to be true of whoever the GOP nominee is). That is a fine as one qualification I suppose, but what really matters is whether he is an actual conservative selling conservatism to the "average Joe". Trump is bordering on selling "truther" far left talking points. I don't want a bunch of paulbot types infesting forums because Trump won't discount conspiracy drivel. What you are describing is straight out of the Ron Paul playbook. He rarely endorsed conspiracy theories, but would never disassociate himself from people who peddled them.

We should understand why Trump ‘doubled down’ on with his comment that CIA Director Tenet told Bush as he states in the article.

See the list of CIA documents sent to Bush in post #121.

Thanks, I never heard the specifics. I guess Trump was right. Clinton and Gorlick also share the blame. This just shows how inept our government has become. I really think that Trump will make a difference.

Trump is an American success story first and foremost. Everyone seems to be having a really hard time categorizing him.

America first. Go Trump. Tell them the truth.

Yeah, yeah, whatever, go vote for Jeb then.

I’m sure trump will miss your support that he never had.

What I think is happening here is all that Jeb has going for him is the Bush name. So Trump is trying to sully the name some more.

I think that's exactly it. Jeb is trying to capitalize on the good feelings people had about GWB directly after 9/11. He's not going to let Jeb take credit so he's saying "Well, if you want to tie yourself to your brother let's look at what many believe about your brother..."

The beauty of Donald Trump is that he appeals not just to conservatives (minus the "true conservative" hysterics who end up voting for pro-amnesty conservatives anyway!), but to moderates and even liberals. That's why Trump is leading even the blue collar vote by an extreme amount. He doesn't come off as just a mindless, loyal robot of the GOP.

There's nothing particularly conservative about airbrushing Bush's record prior to 911, nor even after 911, with his immigration policies still in place.

The whole "we can't question Bush!" stuff is cute, but it doesn't sell with the rest of the electorate.

That’s already happened, most of his supporters fell in line with it like he threw a switch. They’re sycophants.

It was the 1993 WTC attack and was described as a “spontaneous” response to Bush sending troops into Somalia after the dems had pushed and pushed to get Bush to send troops into Somalia.

The 1st WTC bombing in 1993 was the Clintons original “spontaneous” lie.

Yes, I have, but he’s pro-amnesty so it doesn’t look like he’s going to get my vote.

And no, I’m not going to shut up. The GOP makes me ill, and so do those who support it and defend it.

No the truth is not somewhere in the middle. We know what happened on 9-11. It’s been investigated to death and all the conspiracy theories have been shot down again and again and again. Even liberal sites like DU had to eventually create a “truther” dungeon for “9-11 conspiracy types”.

If you say the truth is somewhere in the middle, please elaborate on what you mean exactly? Do you claim the US government knew and let it happen? Or perhaps you take your conspiracies all the way to total insane-land and think the US government planned it? Or are you on of those that think the Israeli’s did it and all the Jews were told ahead of time to evacuate? And none of this “well, I’m just asking questions” nonsense, that is the tried and true fall back of conspiracy theorists that can’t prove anything they assert.

Geeze, I feel like I’m on some Ron Paul nutter forum having to refute stuff that just a few months ago would be laughed off Free Republic.
