A new commercial from Camden-based Campbell's Soup Company features two fathers feeding their son 'Star Wars'-themed soup has come under fire from critics, but the company says it was creating a real reflection of the American family in the contemporary United States.

The commercial, a promotion ahead of the December release of 'The Force Awakens,' shows the fathers riffing on Darth Vader's bombshell 'Star Wars' quote: "I am your father!" The company developed the idea as part of its "Made for Real, Real Life" campaign, a tagline that aims to capture what's going on people's lives when they eat soup, according to AdAge.

Business, last time I looked, wasn’t carried on by robots, though it might be carried on by people who think they have an excuse to act like robots.

The only thing on that list that I will miss is V-8 Juice.

I’ve tried the Aldi’s generic mixed vegetable juice and it isn’t bad. It’s a bit more beet-y than V8 which to me is a good thing.

I don’t buy any of those products. And if I want soup, I make it from scratch.

Unless somebody can show me otherwise, the head of Campbell’s marketing department is evidently in an LGBT fantasy world.

Why would companies do this? It’s like an advertisement for crap flavored soup. There may be some small number of people who like crap soup, but there are certainly more people who don’t like crap. Ads like this do not appeal to this consumer and actually make me less likely to buy Campbell’s soup. Turning customers away is piss poor advertising if you ask me.

That’s why this “ad” isn’t advertising at all. It’s homosexual propaganda that puts a ideological agenda ahead of the company’s commercial interests. Again, why would any company do that? I guess Campbell’s doesn’t like making money?

Did anybody watch the ad?

Just in case someone seeing it didn’t realize that the men in the ad are homos, there a rainbow thingy sitting on the counter. It may be a kid’s toy.

Look in the center of the screen.

The soup is okay. This commercial was for a gimmick theme soup. If honest consumer reaction gets back to them, they might end up dropping that theme because it just got tagged as the gay soup.

Also would miss V-8 juice - pretty much everything else I can/do make from scratch - but creating a good V-8 eludes me, and I’ve never found another brand that I like.

V-8 Juice with a few drops of Tabasco and a finger or two of vodka ;) But yeah, Save A Lot and Aldi have good stuff cheaper.

It is a fad. One that is rapidly fading in my humble opinion.

I see absolutely no evidence of that...

I disagree that this this is Business Marketing 101. Advertising is meant to appeal to customers, not turn them away. There are millions upon millions of evangelical Christians in America, and evangelical Christians are also much more likely to have large families—as in lots of hungry children who want soup. The number of homosexuals raising adopted kids is minuscule by comparison.

Nonsense. This is not a real reflection of our society. A couple of perverts should never be allowed to adopt a child. That they do is criminal and child abuse. Certainly not a reflection of our real society.

I don’t have any problem with Campbell’s soups, although some consumers don’t like them. However, when advertising a product, isn’t it bad businesses to make ads that turn away consumers?

How many homosexuals are more likely to buy Campbell’s soup after viewing this ad? How many people are less inclined? There are still millions of people in this country who believe homosexuality is depraved sin, and many millions more—maybe even a majority—who think homosexuality is at least abnormal and morally wrong.
