Ben Carson's Holocaust theory prompts outcry from Jewish groups

Jewish groups and Holocaust scholars say Ben Carson’s claims that Nazi gun control laws contributed to the Holocaust are offensive and inaccurate, but Carson is not backing down. .

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which was founded to combat anti-Semitism and other forms of prejudice, derided Carson’s theory – which he first raised in his new book “A Perfect Union” – as “historically inaccurate.” .

But the ADL wasn’t the only major organization to weigh in: The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum also took issue with Carson’s decision to inject his claims into America’s gun debate.

Solzhenitsyn may very well have been anti-Semitic, (I don’t know) most Eastern Europeans I have known have been anti-Semitic to a greater or lesser extent.
It is something they are taught from childhood, doesn’t make it right, it just is what it is.
That being said, it still does not make what he said any less accurate or applicable to all people under any government.

From this Jewish perspective, it appears that Mr. Greenblatt, the ADL honcho, is trying to obfuscate the issue raised by Dr. Ben Carson. Of course, Greenblatt is correct to say that Nazism and anti-Semitism were the major causes of the Holocaust. But it is foolish to deny Carson's claim in its entirety. All Carson is saying that greater availability of guns to the German population as a whole, and to the German Jews in particular, might have significantly mitigated the Holocaust death toll. It would have made the perverse Nazi enterprise significantly more difficult for the Nazis, and would have had somewhat of a deterrent effect on them. Once word got around Nazi circles that Jews were resisting arrests and deportations with guns, the Nazis would have been a lot more deliberate in their heinous activities. Bullies get scared when their targets have the capability of killing them.

I'm not aware of the status of gun control in other European countries which the Nazis conquered, but my guess is that Jews were, for the most part, forbidden to own firearms there as well, even before the Nazi invasions. I know that the armed resistance by Jews in the famous Warsaw Ghetto uprising was done with a small number of weapons given to them by non-Jewish Polish resistance fighters.

The worst part of it is that the Allies showed absolutely no concern for the Jews and other minorities that the Nazis were killing in the millions, these were political decisions based on prejudice and greed.

In spite of repeated pleas to allow the passengers to land in America as refugees FDR refused to give the ship permission to dock.

The ship was forced to return to Europe where the passengers were taken in by several European countries, most of whom soon fell to invasion by Hitler and the German military.

In response, American Jews have become one of the most reliable demopcrat voting blocs, voting overwhelmingly for every democrat who runs for president.

Soros was born in Budapest, Hungary, to a nonobservant Jewish family. His mother, Elizabeth (also known as Erzsébet), came from a family that owned a thriving silk shop. The official was at one point ordered to inventory the remaining contents of the estate of a wealthy Jewish family that had fled the country; rather than leave the young Soros alone in the city, the official brought him along. The next year, 1945, Soros survived the Battle of Budapest, in which Soviet and German forces fought house to house through the city.

Carson’s point is accurate, as attested to by Holocaust survivors I have known expressing the same sentiments.

It is also true that the Christian neighbors, Nazis or not, of Jews in Europe would never have allowed pre-war widespread gun ownership and proficiency in their use by the Jews among them.
