In unmistakable ways over the last two weeks, whether he has intended to or not, Donald J. Trump has started to articulate a way out of the presidential race: a verbal parachute that makes clear he has contemplated the factors that would cause him to end his bid.
It is a prospect that many in the political establishment have privately predicted as the actual voting grows closer.
In three separate television interviews, Mr. Trump, who has made his standing in the polls a central facet of his campaign message, spoke about what would prompt him to quit a race in which he is currently leading in the polls.
Im not a masochist, Mr. Trump told Chuck Todd, the host of Meet the Press on NBC News, last weekend. If I were doing poorly, if I saw myself going down, if you would stop calling me because you no longer have any interest in Trump because he has no chance, Id go back to my business.
It was similar to what he said in an interview with the Today show a few days earlier, and at another point to 60 Minutes on CBS.
In interviews this week, Mr. Trump insisted he was in the race to win, and took aim at troublemakers in the media who, he said, are misrepresenting his remarks. Im never getting out, he insisted Friday on MSNBC.
Mr. Trump keeps noting that he still leads in every major Republican poll and is in a political position that others would envy, and he says he will spend the money to keep his candidacy alive. But he conceded ...

The NYT, always trying to create history that way they want to see it.
They just can’t help themselves, lol!
Post ‘em if you got ‘em...
This makes Cruz’s recent comments on Trump VERY interesting. ..
Keeping hoping DC Political/Media/Business Machine, Trump is your worse nightmare. A self funded candidate who owes you nothing and needs you for nothing who is winning with the people
Best reason for exit:
A Republican with a set of cohones (or ovaries) who steps forward. Anyone? Anyone?
[crickets chirping]
Exactly.
They are throwing everything they can at Trump, but the MSM is now irrelevant.
That’s why they are going after the internet.
What a total, shameless, lying propagandist Hagerman is.
I know what it is. He really wants to be Vice President.
They desperately want him out.
Not just the NY Times and the rest of The Ministry Of Propaganda.
The Cheap Labor Express
And their employees in both parties.
what were they?
and if bush had this lead, they would say it was all but over
I am LAUGHING at the desperation!
Maggie, do you believe 0bama road into town riding a unicorn shitting Skittles?
5.56mm
Maybe Trump told Cruz something that nobody else knows?
Well, I’ll tell you...I’m tired of being played, especially by Senators!
I can’t remember who said it, but the gist was, that if Jeb! had Trump’s polling numbers for this long, he would have already been declared the winner.
Propaganda pieces like this are trying to replicate the somewhat successful strategy used by Romney against Thompson in a previous election: “He doesn’t really want it”, “He is thinking about quitting”, “No fire in the belly”, etc. The whole thing is designed to create hesitancy in the minds of the voters. Who wants to bet on a horse that will not finish the race, etc.?

LOL!!!! Maybe because that’s ALL the MSM have asked him about and are obsessing about.
Trump has said he’s not getting out, “ever” ;-)
Not called NY Slimed for nothing.
What is this OBSESSION about trying to get Trump out? This is something new. In previous presidential runs, it was only negative Ads about other candidates. But I can not recall Newt or Santorum ever saying “How can we get Romney the front runner out of the race”.
GOPe is obsessed about getting Trump out of the race. Should’nt GOP PTB trying to help the front runner instead of plotting to finish him off? What happens if he wins enough delegates to win nomination? Will the GOP still try to kill their nominee?
Trump called in to the Joe Scarborough Show this morning and was laughing about this very thing. He went on record as saying, ‘I’m NEVER getting out!’
