Boehner to Stay On as Speaker Until Election
weekly standard ^ | october 8, 2015 | michael warren

After Leader McCarthy’s announcement, members of the House Republican Conference will not vote today for a new Speaker. As I have said previously, I will serve as Speaker until the House votes to elect a new Speaker. We will announce the date for this election at a later date, and I’m confident we will elect a new Speaker in the coming weeks. Our conference will work together to ensure we have the strongest team possible as we continue to focus on the American people’s priorities.

I understand that you need 218 votes.

It would still be encouraging to see a true conservative step up and run
even if he or she did not get elected.

He needs to get out of the way and let the congress elect someone of their choosing, someone who will allow ideas to flow from the ground up, instead of dictating.

Seems Paul Ryan has just canceled all fund raisers for the next 48 hours. Something may be up. I suppose there are those who are lobbying him to run, regardless that he has declined.

"You didn’t see the ten threads......."

To be honest with you I didn't. I had/have such a terrible sinus headache I just opened the first article I saw on the main thread. I didn't even look at the breaking news side bar.

If we were all honest we would call campaign contributions what they really are.... BRIBES.

These guys are incredibly crafty when they are after something important to them.

Planned Parenthood slaughtering babies? - “Sorry we tried as best we could. Now excuse us while we work with the Dems to pass a budget.”

Speakership up for grabs? - They use every parliamentary trick and backroom arm twisting deal to make sure it turns out how they want.

“Isn’t the Meadows resolution still hanging over Boehner’s head? He could also file a “privileged” motion seeking Boehner’s ouster that would go directly to the House floor. If Boehner is still weeping into his cocktail and hanging on because his buddy McCarthy backed out & by golly he wants to control who his replacement will be, maybe some action should be taken sooner rather than later.”

Yes, yes, and yes. I think Meadows may well have to save the day by pulling the rug out from under the Orange One.

Laura Ingraham reportedly identified the well publicized the three “Young Guns”, who graced the pages of some magazine a couple of years ago. They were Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor! She said today, “ Great, let the Young Guns run, and we will have dispatched them all.”

So, we have run off Cantor, McCarthy is now out, Ryan is just now reporting that he will not run, regardless of the rumors. That is breaking news, that Ryan will not run under any circumstances.

You can smile, again. :D

Our conference will work together to ensure we have the strongest team possible as we continue to focus on the American people’s priorities.

One of our priorities was to get rid of John Boehner.

Once again, The Orange Eunuch does not compute.

Yes, keep the DC circus going. Everybody outside of the DC-NY pundit speed lane can see what a clown show they are.

>>>> .... focus on the American people’s priorities.

And we all know this is BS. Boehner said so in his resignation speech that he saw his speaker job was to ‘preserve all grafting and privilege this proud institution, Congress, enjoys’.

Yep, but what diff does it make? He said ‘Hannity asked Gohmert why he wasn’t putting his “hat in the ring” to which he replied, “no I’ve burned so many bridges and made so many people mad.” ‘

Gohmert is my rep and I consider him a stalwart for this country

“Trump has started a revolution”

Sorry Rita, not gonna let you get away with that one.

This “revolution” has been being fought for a lot longer than 6-8 months.
If you want go back to Reagan.
If not that far then the birth of the TEA party, and Sarah Palin.
I may give Trump credit for hoisting OUR banner (still not sure he’s even doing that) higher than anyone else this presidential election season, but starting this? Really?
It seems odd that so many Trump supporters find it incredibly easy to dismiss, and belittle the real, gargantuan struggle we long time Conservatives have put up since he showed up on the scene.

There are some of us who have been working our butts off for this revolution back to when Trump was still supporting Hillary, and Obama.

That Freedom Caucus that is forcing Boehner out, and kept McCarthy out was sent to DC before Trump opened his mouth, and uttered his first word in support of anything we believe.
Oh and by the way guess which one of the Presidential Candidates has worked, and is working behind the scenes to help make this happen? None other than Sen. Ted Cruz.
All Trump has done so far, is comment on the events after they happen.
