“...NO TIME TO CELEBRATE ...”

No... take a couple seconds... grin, enjoy the moment, maybe do a quick “happy feet”...

NOW back to business!

He feels he cannot unify the Congress, at this time, per CNN.

CRISIS WITHIN THE GOP, according to CNN.

[McCarthy probably discovered he didn’t have anywhere near the votes needed.]

He saw his Speaker resignation on the horizon as well.

Why go through all that hassle of fighting for the Speaker’s gavel when he can just sit back, continue to do nothing about Obama and draw a paycheck.

All from the anonymity of his office.

Rooting for Chaffetz. Very smart, energetic, good speech skills, and the best chance to UNITE republicans in House.

No possible way for McCarthy to win.

Good on him for taking his name out of the running.

He can take Ellmers with him too. They can go hideaway somewhere and comfort each other.

Good riddance to this useless loser. Let’s hope he leaves Congress so an actual conservative may take his place.

A conservative from Kalifornia? Surely, you jest.

I think someone threatened McCarthy with skeletons in his closet, promising him it would be exposed if he didn't withdraw from the race.

Or perhaps someone he respected warned him that his skeletons were already known and would be on the front page of the New York Times, if he didn't withdraw.

I think it's interesting that Boehner postponed the election. He apparently has to dig up another patsy the GOPe can control.

There must be “something” on him which he could not put behind him; otherwise, he was a sure thing. Can’t imagine anyone good being Speaker who is any good though

Well this does not surprise me at all. Could this be the start of a major HOUSE cleaning in the USA House of Reps by the conservative side of the GOP?

Thank-you and God Bless you for your responses. :)=^..^=

Yay!!!!!!

Victory!

Yet, it is victory in just one battle. Not the end.

No, I don't think so. It was Chaffetz's gaffe in stripping Mark Meadows of a subcommittee membership (in apparent violation of House rules) that started Boehner's downfall.

Mark Levin has been against McCarthy since Boehner announced his departure.

Levin says both McCarthy and Chaffetz are about as inarculate as they come. Both have difficulty formulating meaningful sentences.

Maybe, finally, true conservatives have grown a backbone and are not going to let the GOPelites run over them

“Or the rumors on his affair with another congress woman.”

I actually kind of called it.

Except I didn’t think he actually would withdraw.

CNN

Paul Ryan ‘I will not be a candidate.’

Ryan does not want to give up his chairmanship of the [extremely powerful] Ways and Means Committee.

The House member from Florida is too old and dull and NO UNITER. A divided House among republicans will be ineffective at best. I hope Chaffetz will get more votes.

He just denied that “the letter” had anything to do with it. Pretty weak body language.
