A senior defense official has told NBC News that the Russian military has been moving artillery and ground forces towards Hama one of the locations that the Russians targeted in the first 24 hours of their airstrikes.
The U.S. official also said that after Russian aircraft breached Turkish airspace by roughly 20 miles, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov contacted the Turkish government to apologize and acknowledge that it was a mistake.
"So much for fighting ISIS," the defense official said.

I guess the 80’s gave us our foreign policy back.
obama unwon the iraq war, is unwinning the afghanistan war, and will next, apparently, unwin the cold war.
Hama sits on important crossroad. All the main highways in the area go through there especially the north-south road linking Damascus to Aleppo.
He said his legacy was important to him. Looks like we are seeing it written right now.
Russia is making all of the right moves. What will the Obama lackies do when Assad captures and parades squads of ISIS from Hama?
The more terrorists that the Russians kill, the more Obama’s friends squeal in protest.
They’ll be moving the artillery up the White Hut lawn before long.
The only satisfaction we’ll have is knowing that Barry the Fruitcake will be hauled away in chains.
Heil Putin!
What a legacy the foreign exchange student has left. The only problem is that the history books will be in Cyrillic or Chinese.
Where oh where will the psychotic’s lieberry be?
Sing Sing?
it’s not over yet. his ultimate legacy will be a mushroom cloud over a middle eastern capital.

I wonder what kind of information these ISIS soldiers will be able to supply to their captors (and the rest of the world) about the support they have been receiving from the U.S. Obama Administration?
If ISIS are not soiling their underwear right now, they’re stupider than I thought.
The Russians will give them no quarter.
...and DC. Then it will up to us to shoot the first SOB who suggests it be rebuilt.
Yup
Ping.
{”All the main highways in the area go through there especially the north-south road linking Damascus to Aleppo.”}
Yes, a main road right into ISIS territory.
Yeah, the Ruskies don’t tie their soldiers hands in rules of engagement like our side does.
They will take a few prisoners, if they think they have some propaganda value. Otherwise, the ground forces will take no prisoners.
A Russian jet, equipped with all of the latest global positioning equipment and navigation electronics, strayed 20 miles into Turkey by mistake?
Sorry, not buying it.
We haven’t seen total war with the gloves off since WWII. There’s going to be a lot of weeping and knashing of teeth. Of course, to be fair, if we hadn’t elected Obama twice, the Entire region would be quite stable.
Anyone who thinks the Russians are targeting good guys and moderate opposition should look up Hama and Islamic State or Hama and Nusra
This area has been held by really cruel anti- Assad fanatics who have performed the all too familiar kidnappings , car bombings, and beheadings of civilians
Good hunting , Russia and SAA
The SAA are doing the ground fighting and they are taking prisoners - those who surrender - by the hundreds
Now, what they do with them.....
Were I Assad I’d buy them plane tickets to Germany
