Bring back Patton! Trump boomed to a cheering audience, referencing the aggressive American general from World War II, George Patton, who won the Battle of the Bulge.
*snip*
Trump continued on the theme of great American military leaders of the past. I liked McArthur. You know, in the history of West Point, he had the highest marks. . . He would get off his plane with the corn cob pipe and the high hat and hed say Here I am, you mess with me, go ahead, mess with me, he pointed out.
But today, Trump added, its different.
So theyre interviewing recently this general on televisionfirst of all, he shouldnt be on television, doing an interview, right? he said as the audience applauded. Hes supposed to be unpredictable, Trump emphasized.
Ive been using that term. They said I did this great deal recently. It was a great business deal. And my other side, they were tough, but I beat em, Trump explained.
They said, You know we dont like Donald Trump but I have to tell you he was really tough to beat because hes so damn unpredictable. We couldnt predict what his moves were.
And I said to myself, our country has to be unpredictable, Trump added to more cheers.

Let's not wander too far down that road: I am a Trump fan but no, he didn't call that one right. We had good people to defend, a national interest in keeping our allies alive, we had a vicious bunch of enemies to kill, and we had some of the greatest Americans born serving over there. It's a shame that Trump didn't serve - he would have learned a lot about himself and his fellow Americans if he had.
Despite the whisperings of the Leftists and non-servers, our war was an outstanding fight and I'm proud to have been there with the good guys.
Are we to assume that you did not serve your country in uniform?
We lost Vietnam because of Washington and the Media.
Trump called that right and if you don't agree you are way out in left field.
Partially right. But primarily we lost because the American people gave up. They went for the Leftist "antiwar" propaganda, they dodged, hid out, avoided military duty leaving the fighting to just a few of us, and they just voted for Democrats - which in those days was the same as voting for the enemy.
The number one reason we lost was the paucity of actual men back then.
Real estate development is not sales (though sales is a component of it).
Deal making is not for people like you...your tiny mind will not--cannot--wrap itself around it.
So go away and foul your bed elsewhere.
Daily Kos would love to have you. You'd be a hero.
You've already made it ;-)
Btw, who's your candidate?
The American people watched the nightly news...which lied to them.
We were winning.
Well everyone else will see my point if they’ve read your own posts, but I’ll make it more explicit just for you. Here’s a couple of your posts:
“LOL. He missed his chance to be “Pattonesque” during the Vietnam war.””
“You dishonor George Patton with your comparison. Patton would likely have slapped (or pistol whipped) a guy with four student deferments plus medical deferment (heel spurs) of a former star athlete for avoiding military service during war time. “
Since that’s your line of criticism let’s hear your story. Did you ever have a 2S deferment? 1Y? Were you drafted? What was your lottery number?
Your line about Patton pistol whipping anyone is the sort of juvenile hyperbole I’d expect from someone whose closest association with the military is watching movies.
Why evade the question asked of you multiple times after mocking another persons lack of service. Most who’ve served will say so if asked. Is there something you fear regarding that?
“Unpredictability is right.”
Like after the Oregon shooting, most GOPs cowered behind locked doors, figuring the race to gun control was on. Trump, instead, comes out strong for 2nd amendment rights and wants to arm teachers!
If you actually understood Trump's business--or if you read Trump's (wildly inflated) statement of his net worth--you would see that a YUGE chunk of Trump's money comes not from real estate development, but rather from licensing deals (I.e., slapping his name on developments he had little/nothing to do with)--in other words, pure branding. And that, my friend, is almost entirely sales.
But please, keep it up with the vulgar personal insults. Does it make you feel good to call me an idiot?
(And FYI, I'm just guessing, but I don't think DailyKos would be so welcoming of a Cruz supporter, so I'll stay right here, thanks).
Btw, it’s a question about your service to our country not a point. I’ll make my point once you answer the question you’ve evaded multiple times.
TRUMP: "Putin is now taking over what we started and he's going into Syria, and he frankly wants to fight ISIS, and I think that's a wonderful thing"
And now he states that we should bring back Patton, the foremost aggressive general of WWII? He's got to decide whether the US will be aggressive or stay out and be "diplomatic" about the US; he can't have it both ways.
Trump wants to be "unpredictable", but he's looking more confused then anything else. He's got to straighten his act.
Not sure McArthur is the finest example.
What did he do, on December 8, 1941, waiting in his office?
I believe Jane’s point, which you keep declining to answer, is are you a hypocrite.
What Trump was saying is that he is stronger than Truman. He is saying that he could have managed MacArthur.
Trump admires him but can manage him.
First he likes the Mid East void being filled by Putin (Sept 30):
TRUMP: "Putin is now taking over what we started and he's going into Syria, and he frankly wants to fight ISIS, and I think that's a wonderful thing"
And now he states that we should bring back Patton, the foremost aggressive general of WWII? He's got to decide whether the US will be aggressive or stay out and be "diplomatic" about the US; he can't have it both ways.
Trump wants to be "unpredictable", but he's looking more confused then anything else. He's got to straighten his act.
So that's not an insult but a badge of honor.
But as a Wall St investment banker, I knew Trump's deals inside out.
And the City of New York is the worst place to do business in the world. But he did it and make a living at it.
But keep up your hate routine.
It will only diminish you.
