Real estate development is not sales (though sales is a component of it).

If you actually understood Trump's business--or if you read Trump's (wildly inflated) statement of his net worth--you would see that a YUGE chunk of Trump's money comes not from real estate development, but rather from licensing deals (I.e., slapping his name on developments he had little/nothing to do with)--in other words, pure branding. And that, my friend, is almost entirely sales.
