Warplanes have carried out air strikes in Hama, Homs and Latakia in what Russia's powerful Orthodox Church has termed a "holy battle".

I turned on the TV and SecDef Carter is on blathering about the “contradiction” between Russia fighting “extremism” and supporting Assad making Russia’s policy “illogical”. WTF? Does this guy actually believe that nonsense? What kind of fantasy world do these guys live in?
Hopefully the Russians learned something and improved from their 1980s Afghan adventure.
The way it appears to me, and I think the facts back it up, is that the entire Obama advanture was caliphate construction.
Libs want a handful of power blocs under one roof. Russia/America/Asia/Europe/Middle East. All those controlled under UN auspice.
Barry took out a neutered Lybia to get the chaos rolling. “You can do things in a crisis you never could otherwise”.
The Arab spring was continuation.
Syria was a holdout and held Saddam’s chem/bio....and non muslims. Non muslims under marginal protection.
Isis slaughters non muslims wherever they are found according to the Koran. Never let a crisis go to waste.
Barry and the GOP armed terrorists to make it happen.
If Russia had not stepped in and exposed the Kabuki, Barry would have created that mid east power bloc in time via Isis.
Israel has been blackmailed throughout and finially got with Russia.
The emporor now stands fully naked. And the caliphate dreams are going up in cordite smoke.
SXit is about to get REALLLLL interesting in DC.
“The biggest risk to the US regarding Syria is this: obama throws a homo hissy fit and gets us into a shooting war with Russia.”
There is a lot of truth to this. The animosity is personal with a lot of influential poofs, and was overt as far back as the Sochi Olympics.
Is it possible the Russians fully expect to foment the strife of Muslims in the Caucasuses and that will be an excuse to invade? Resemble the Soviet satellites.
Tomatos, Tamatos.. Potatos, Patatos....

CNN just now:
“Did President Obama get played by Putin?”
ROTFLMSAO!!!
Kinda leaves feeling all warm...and glowing.
“LOTS of meaning in this Russian Editorial Cartoon from today”
Yes there is. Putin is depicted as brushing the ISIS vermin off over the North Atlantic too. We will end up with those mad dogs on our soil.
Great explanation. Thanks.
what a sinister SOB. Knowing how much they hate us, he still wanted to make the middle east a power to be reckoned with.
or maybe BECAUSE of how much they hate us.
Looks like Trump’s foreign policy is already in effect.
Oh for sure “BECAUSE”
This summs it up PERFECTLY

Hear the thunder of his voice! ;)
“Hopefully the Russians learned something and improved from their 1980s Afghan adventure.”
I found it very interesting that their most recent MBT, the Armata T-14, has a lot of attention turned to crew survivability. This is very close to Israeli doctrine, and is a reversal of the WWII and Cold War notions of cheap, fragile, and overwhelming numbers. They do seem to have gone back to the drawing boards over the past decade.
Too big to spin. Barrys fall begins now. Get the popcorn. It’s on like Donkey Kong.
We are no longer allowed over Syria. We were ordered to get out, please.
This is infuriating. Our country, our military has apparently lost all knowledge of military operations and tactics. A cursory glance at a map of Syria shows a few key points:
1. Damascus is the largest city, and is still the capitol.
2. Russian forces, to date, have FLOWN into a military airport near Damascus. This air route does not allow for lots of heavy equipment or supplies to be easily sent to the conflict area.
3. Draw a line directly north of Damascus - you find Homs and Aleppo. (Areas where the Russian airstrikes have broadly occurred.)
4. West of the Damascus-Homs-Aleppo line is the Jabal-an-Nusayriyah mountain range. West of that is the Med, with to key ports - Tartus, where the Russians have a sea base already, and Latakia, where the other air strikes took place (probably to gain control of a second port on the Med).
5. Ports are a GOOD way to resupply ground forces.
6. There are only two main highways (lines of communication, in military-speak) from either of the two ports, through the mountains, to meet up with the Damascus-Homs-Aleppo control line.
7. Control the ports, control the Lines of Communications, control the major cities along a north-south line, and you've made a good start of “winning” the war.
Close with and destroy the enemy; seize and hold terrain. Fundamentals of warfare. Who cares which enclave is being “controlled” by which group of arabic-titled extremists?
Something we've forgotten, but the Russians apparently haven't.
We better. If our guys attack they will have no backing from Barry after he orders them to.
Then they will be courtmartialed on BS charges when they return.
