Obama has turned Putin into the world’s most powerful leader
New York Post ^ | 09/29/15 | Benny Avni

The baton was officially transferred Monday to the world’s new sole superpower — and Vladimir Putin willingly picked it up.

President Obama (remember him?) embraced the ideals espoused by the United Nations’ founders 70 years ago: Diplomacy and “international order” will win over time, while might and force will lose.

Putin, too, appealed to UN laws (as he sees them), but he also used his speech to announce the formation of a “broad international coalition” to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

“Similar to the anti-Hitler coalition, it could unite a broad range of forces” to fight “those who, just like the Nazis, sow evil and hatred of humankind,” he said.

And who’d lead this new coalition? Hint: Moscow has always celebrated the Allies’ World War II victory as a Russian-led fete.

Oh, and if anyone wondered which Syrian players the coalition would rely on as allies, Putin made it clear: “No one but President [Bashar al-]Assad’s armed forces and Kurd militia are fighting the Islamic State.”

That, of course, isn’t Obama’s view. America’s president said he opposed the “logic of supporting tyrants.” After all, Assad “drops barrel bombs on innocent children.”

But Putin has troops in Syria, is arming Assad to the teeth and signed a pact of anti-ISIS intelligence-sharing with Assad, Iran and the leaders of Iraq (the ones America fought to put in power).

One’s military is useless when one has sniveling little ‘Progressive’ cowards sabotaging every effort of our men and women in uniform.
There’s a reason we haven’t been victorious since WWII.

“What did Putin say that made you like him?”

Putin is to be respected for acting in the short and long term interests of the nation he leads in foreign affairs. Unlike the leaders the USA and most western European countries.

Okay, well Putin seemed in control of the interview. He was charming and polite. 0bama on the other hand would be overbearing, narcissistic, hemming and hawing and not having a coherent idea. Putin came across as a nice guy is all.

My not so nice as your take: The face of evil in our time.

All description by either of us after that is simply adding more adjectives......

Guess I'll never make the list of the most highly esteemed members of the right.

The greatest military only represents power if the world is convinced we are ready to use it to protect/advance our interests. Tanks sitting in the motor pool and planes gathering dust in hangars do not represent power.

Putin has usurped the world lead because he has shown he is ready and willing to act. That makes up for a lot of firepower.

“Putin is a very bad guy.....he’s ten times the leader of our community organizer!!!”

Who could argue with that statement?

Putin has some history, and his KGB people are not known for being nice guys, but he comes across as a strong leader who has the backing of most Russians, not merely those forced to support him as would be the case in places like North Korea.

Putin and the Russians in general, may be a little rough around the edges but they do tend to get things done, Afghanistan notwithstanding, and they seem quite capable of ignoring the hue and cry from the world’s bleeding hearts who don’t like their methods. All in all, I admire Putin’s ability to stand up to world opinion and thumb his nose at a cowardly, limp-wristed spider monkey.

Obama is not a “has-been”, he’s a “never was”, and he’s been remarkably successful at turning the US into a has-been country heading for the dust bin. Putin is merely taking advantage of the golden opportunities Buckwheat is handing him.

I don’t think Obama deserves fifth place. There are A LOT more powerful leaders in the world than that rainbow colored idiot.

You posit your list as powerful LEADERS, not powerful countries. Obama the man (person/thing/he/she/it) is by no means either powerful or a leader.
